Chapter 265: Chapter 262: In Short
Outside the hospital room.
"Let me in!"
Luna stood outside the hospital room, having been chatting with the two big guys at the door for quite some time.
However, the two men in black said nothing, only blocking the door to prevent her from entering.
It was obvious that Norman Bennett had given the order, was he afraid she’d cause a disturbance or something else?
Upon learning of Elliana Lyle’s disappearance, she rushed to Frontier City overnight and searched the desert for days.
It was hard-earned news that the person was found, only to arrive at the hospital and still not be able to see her.
At this moment, a nurse passed by them and couldn’t help glancing toward the door twice.
Seeing this, Luna suddenly had an idea.
Half an hour later.
A woman in a nurse’s uniform with a mask approached the hospital room and sternly told the two at the door, "I’m here to check on the patient."
The men in black immediately opened the door, just letting her in like that.
Once inside, Luna took off her mask, finding Elliana still asleep and Norman Bennett resting with his eyes closed beside her.
Despite her efforts to walk as quietly as possible, Norman still woke up, his icy gaze filled with a touch of vigilance.
Seeing it was her, he returned to his usual indifference.
"Norman Bennett?"
Seeing Norman’s appearance, Luna could hardly believe it.
Although not exactly scruffy, he was indeed not as tidy as usual.
Even his spirit seemed a bit exhausted.
It seemed these days, Norman had been tirelessly searching for Elliana.
She was the same, having only cleaned up once she returned and could not enter, so she went to the hotel.
Otherwise, she would still be sporting greasy hair and a face full of dust.
She suggested, "Why don’t you freshen up? I’ll watch over her, you don’t look quite right this way."
"Okay." With that, Norman stood up.
Luna was stunned on the spot, she was just joking, not expecting he’d actually agree!
In fact, the reason Norman didn’t leave Frontier City with Elliana was that she was too weak and needed a couple of days to recuperate before traveling.
Being someone who loved cleanliness, he reached his limit too, with Luna there and so many bodyguards, he could finally relax a bit.
"Don’t disturb her." That was his warning before leaving.
Luna nodded continuously, and once he was gone, she sat directly by the hospital bed, gently patting the sleeping person a couple of times.
"Wake up, sister!"
Not to mention, although the face was thinner, it was still very soft, and felt even more textured than before.
Elliana squinted her eyes open, too sleepy to fully open them, only opening them reluctantly because of the noise.
At the sight of that face, she immediately knew it was Luna, and a touch of joy appeared on her face.
"Luna? How are you here?"
"I came to find you, tell me, where did you go? How have you been these past days?" To be honest, Luna had almost lost hope while searching.
She only wished to find the whole body to send back to the hometown for burial, even having the coffin ordered.
Indeed, for celebration.
Being questioned about this, the smile gradually faded from Elliana’s face, the events on the carriage level, truthfully, she was unwilling to recount them.
Faced with Luna’s curiosity, she sighed and said, "It’s a long story."
Luna nodded, prepared to hear the tale, "Then make it brief, focus on the key points."
Make it brief... the key points...
After some thought, she finally picked a few key points, the first one being Lily Clarke, after all, without Lily, she wouldn’t have met such an ordeal.
"Lily Clarke? She kicked you off?" Luna was first incredulous, then her face turned angry.
She said, "Just wait, I’ll avenge you!"
Seeing Luna about to leave immediately, she panicked, hastily said, "Luna! Listen to me first!"
She knew Luna’s temper, and she didn’t want Luna to get involved because of Lily Clarke, bringing the villain to justice was the right choice.
"What else?" Luna turned back to her.
She pursed her lips and seriously said, "I found Savanna Windsor."
Once these words were out, the room fell silent, so quiet that even a needle dropping could probably be heard.
"Wait! Let me think this through!" Luna’s head was spinning at this point.
Bella said she’d seen Savanna Windsor behind the abandoned building at Red Mansion, but the police found no clues afterward.
Plus, with Kelly Wright’s death, she thought Bella was just lying.
Yet Elliana actually found Savanna Windsor here in Frontier City!
This was truly...
Unbelievable!
So she asked, "Where is she?"
Elliana looked a bit sad, squeezing out two words, "She’s dead."
"Dead?"
Elliana took a few minutes to explain the entire situation to Luna.
Luna listened thoughtfully, after pondering for a moment, she said, "Galen Collins said the abandoned building was demolished, do you think she was discovered by Bella and was thus moved?"
After speaking, she noticed Elliana was in a daze, as if regretting something.
Having been with her for so long, she naturally knew what Elliana was regretting, so she comforted, "They ended up like that, what could they do after returning? Be sent to a mental hospital?"
"Luna, they shouldn’t have lived like that." The words were heavy with sadness, the tone soft and weightless, but incredibly heavy.
Elliana, of course, knew that Savanna’s life wouldn’t be normal upon returning, although it is said that a home is a harbor of love.
But being in such a state, how would the surrounding people see and say, how would the family treat her?
It was unclear.
That’s why Savanna chose to free them and herself when she was saved.
At least this way, people would only get angry at the actions of the villains when they thought of them, and be moved to tears by their plight.
Seeing her still in a daze, Luna sighed and said, "Let me put it this way, I once handled a case of human traffickers, later found, it was when you were looking for Rupert Zeller."
"Back then, a woman returned, having been severely tortured, her legs broken, but the villagers mostly didn’t care, just laughed."
"What do you think happened next?" Luna asked her.
She listened intently, suddenly interrupted, so she shook her head, "I don’t know."
Luna continued, "Later on, the woman was found to have a disease, an incurable contagious disease, luckily the family wasn’t infected, at first they spent money on treatment, the villagers avoided the family and mocked them secretly."
"In the end, unable to bear the gossip, the family moved away overnight, leaving the woman alone in the house, she was already gone when found."
This outcome wasn’t too surprising, she only nodded slightly after hearing.
After all, it seemed she had heard of it before, it had even made the news.
Even when such a sad situation gets posted online, there are still those who pity and those who scorn.
It’s impossible to silence others.
"I know, I just..." She thought for a moment, then shook her head, "I’m fine."
Luna reached out and ruffled her hair, saying, "You still did well, you even took one down, as expected of a disciple I trained, a shadow of my former self."
"Sigh!" At the mention of this, she sighed, "It was just a fluke, might not be so lucky next time."
Luna nodded, saying, "Indeed, you didn’t handle it well, how could you let them wake up when tying them?"
