Chapter 236 - 233: Newcomer

Chapter 236: Chapter 233: Newcomer

North City Central Hospital.

After the check-up, it was already one in the afternoon. Claire White looked at the examination report in her hand, then lifted her eyes to look at the two of them, her face a bit serious.

This expression not only made Norman Bennett worried, but the person being examined was also anxious.

Seeing Claire White’s hesitant look, Norman Bennett finally impatiently said, "Speak."

"Ahem!" Claire White coughed with her fist clenched, then said, "There’s nothing major, everything is quite alright, but..."

Claire White glanced at Norman Bennett and advised, "Watch your moderation."

"Huh? Moderation in what?" Elliana Lyle looked at Claire White with a puzzled face. Was it because she ate too many spicy foods?

However, before Claire White could speak, Norman Bennett already had a dark expression as he took her away.

No idea what’s going on, maybe he found out she sneaked some chips, hence the anger.

But she didn’t plan to soothe him, after all, Claire White didn’t say anything major; she wasn’t going to fall for the petty offense again.

After leaving the hospital, the man’s expression had considerably recovered itself, indeed, saying nothing was the wise choice.

"I have things to do this afternoon, stay at the hotel yourself, don’t wander around, got it?" the man driving said to her.

She nodded and played with her bangs in the car mirror.

These days, she practically had no hairstyle. The bangs she grew years ago were already very long, but there were some soft wisps on her forehead.

She saw Joy Lyle had styled her bangs with an eight-character shape and wondered if it would suit her.

"Norman Bennett, do you think I look nice like this?" She pretended to cut the hair to be trimmed, then smiled at the man.

As the man glanced at her, she didn’t forget to wink playfully.

The man only gave her a brief look, then redirected his gaze forward.

She pressed him: "Do I look good? Do I look good?"

"I’m not coming back tonight."

The man’s words came out of nowhere, and she froze for a few seconds; her smile faded away. She was just asking if she looked good.

Then the man added: "A bit busy. Be good, and don’t cut your hair, it looks good as is."

"Oh~ got it." She sulkily sat upright and glanced in the mirror.

Not allowing her to grow her nails was one thing, but now not being able to cut her hair meant tomorrow she’d shave it all off.

He looked at the little girl with an unhappy face and sighed helplessly.

Actually, there wasn’t anything important to work on tonight. Someone who hasn’t had cake might endure, but once you’ve had a bite, you can’t control having another.

Especially recently, the little girl loved provoking him before sleep.

"Then I won’t go either. Staying at your office will be just fine," the little girl suddenly spoke, and he intended to refuse, but the answer slipped out as "fine."

After arriving at the office, Norman Bennett began his work, while Elliana Lyle wandered around like nothing mattered.

"Hey! It’s work hours, don’t you have anything to do?" A man in a white shirt yelled at her, holding a thermal mug.

He seemed to be a department manager or something; she quickly put down the decorative vase in her hand and explained: "I’m Norman Bennett’s..."

Before she could finish, the man immediately recognized her, and a smile replaced his stern face, "Oh, it’s the president’s wife, hello, I’m Will Harper, the design department manager."

"You’re here to inspect the work, right?"

"Uh..." She was just wandering around, but the person in front of her was quite good, keeping employees in line during work hours; besides, when she walked in, no one paid her attention as everyone was busy working.

The phenomenon was great.

She waved her hand and said, "No, I’m just looking around, I don’t understand your work; you go ahead and don’t let me delay you."

"Alright, then I won’t disturb your visit." With that, Will Harper headed to his office.

Taking advantage of the moment, she indeed felt like inspecting. Norman Bennett was always busy and rarely saw the employees’ working conditions.

She might as well conduct a surprise check.

After thinking it over, she went back to Norman Bennett’s office, grabbed a mask and baseball cap to put on; these two items were essential for her when going out.

She walked through each department again, prioritizing the design department.

Everyone seemed focused, occasionally munching on snacks, but it wasn’t a big deal.

While reaching the last row, a skinny woman in white was chatting with the woman wearing glasses beside her.

But clearly, the woman with glasses didn’t want to engage with the other.

The white-clad woman kept saying, "Honestly, the newcomer looks like a vixen, all polished during work hours, you don’t know, I saw her yesterday with a wealthy old man in a luxury car, tsk tsk."

"Maybe it’s her dad," the woman with glasses replied perfunctorily, not even glancing at the woman in white, her eyes glued to the screen.

The white-clad woman pouted disdainfully, rebutting, "How could it be her dad? If her dad were that rich, would she need to work?"

"Your family is quite well-off, too," the woman with glasses, as always, engaged in perfunctory chatting; after all, the white-clad woman came to her daily with some sour remarks, and she was used to it.

"Someone as fox-like as her is not the same as me."

Elliana Lyle listened behind the two, when the white-clad woman noticed her and yelped, "Oh my gosh, why do you look like a ghost? Why are you standing behind me? You gave me a fright!"

Then she added, "Who are you then?"

Even though she got startled facing the woman in white’s question, she replied, "I’m the new hire."

"New hire? Another one recruited?" The white-clad woman speculated as she glanced up and down at her: "Why so tightly wrapped?"

"I’m having a little cold."

At that moment, the woman with glasses finally turned to her, introducing herself: "Hello, I’m Sienna Gavin, and we’ll be colleagues from now on."

Then she extended her hand to her.

Others, startled by the white-clad woman’s shout, also greeted her; it seemed this department’s members were quite welcoming to newcomers.

The white-clad woman then stated: "I’m Yan Jinfen, you can call me Sister Fen."

Honestly, she didn’t quite like this person known as Yan Jinfen, always felt she was someone who loved gossiping behind others.

No feeling, it’s a certainty!

"New one, fetch me a cup of water, make it warm, don’t let it be too hot or too cold." Yan Jinfen finished and handed her the cup directly.

Most workplace newcomers go through this; after all, she had seen videos, so she obliged, fetching water wasn’t much of a chore.

When she returned, she saw from a distance that Yan Jinfen had again started rambling, intrigued, she lightened her steps.

"Do you know why that shorty wears a mask and cap? Must be too ugly to face people, utterly amusing, one vixen comes, now a shorty, cracks me up, wonder who they’re hiring."

"I’m telling you, you might not be the ugliest one in the future, someone even uglier arrived."

After Yan Jinfen spoke, she started laughing uncontrollably. Seeing that Sienna Gavin was not paying her any mind, she approached.

Upon viewing the computer screen, she became instantly displeased and stated, "Why are you writing this report? Finish mine first; I need it submitted before today’s end, handed to you two days ago, did you finish yet?"
