Chapter 257: Go Cook, Feed Me

Mason Nightshade was worried she might fall asleep and wake up hungry in the middle of the night.

He went over and turned on the TV for her.

He softly reminded her, "If you get sleepy, just watch some TV. I'll have the food ready soon. Call me if you need anything, okay?"

Aurelia Shaw opened her eyes slightly, "Mason, you can cook?"

Mason nodded.

"When did you learn?" she asked, her eyes sparkling.

Mason was momentarily dazed, then replied, "I learned in the military. I may not match a top chef, but my skills aren't bad. If you like it, I can cook for you every day."

His voice was deep and indulgent.

Aurelia lowered her gaze, her long eyelashes hiding her eyes. A faint smile appeared on her lips, "I really don't know you at all. Maybe I never truly did from the beginning."

"If you want to know me, you can do so anytime," Mason said.

For some reason, hearing her say that, even though her voice was steady, he heard a hint of sadness.

He felt a wave of panic inside.

"As long as you want to know me, I'll be right here, letting you know everything about me."

"Forget it." Aurelia shook her head and poked his left chest with her finger twice, "Your heart is too cold; it's easy to get hurt."

I don't have the courage to try a second time, nor do I dare to.

I'm scared... I'm terrified... Mason.

Aurelia buried her head into the pillow, her back curving into an arch, like a snail hiding itself, all her sadness hidden beneath her long and deep eyelashes.

Mason held her hand, wrapping it tightly in his palm, his fingers warm.

He didn't know why she showed such a sorrowful expression, but he wanted her to know that his heart was beating, and it was only because of her that it was beating so fast.

Hiss—

Sharp nails scratched across his chest.

Mason winced in pain, looking at the culprit, "Are you really a little cat? Trim your nails."

"Who asked you to take advantage of me!" Aurelia said, "Go cook, and stop blocking my TV view."

Mason: "..."

Mason, feeling helpless, got up and went into the kitchen.

The kitchen was bustling with the sounds of cooking, and just as Aurelia was about to fall asleep, the aroma of food drifted in.

"Come over and eat."

Mason came out of the kitchen, his shirt sleeves rolled up, revealing strong arms, carrying a bowl of steaming noodles.

Aurelia stumbled over, and Mason, seeing this, wanted to help her, but with the noodles in hand, as he was about to put them down and go back, she had already reached the table and sat down.

Mason sighed.

Really, she's a worry.

Aurelia took a couple of bites, finding the taste unexpectedly good.

"Aren't you eating?" Aurelia asked.

Mason brought over his laptop, sat opposite her, his eyes bright, and shook his head when asked, "My digestive system doesn't work that fast; I'm not hungry yet." Latest content published on NovєlFі

His tone was teasing.

Actually, he had eaten too much spicy food at night, and his stomach was still burning.

Aurelia rolled her eyes, knowing he was mocking her, and didn't bother to chat with him.

Even though her mind was a bit slow from the alcohol, she wasn't an idiot.

As the sound of the keyboard tapping accompanied, a bowl of noodles was quickly finished, and Aurelia sobered up a bit, stood up, leaving the mess for Mason, and headed upstairs.

"I'm full; I'll go upstairs to sleep now. Good night."

Mason paused his typing, watched her figure heading upstairs, and then looked at the clean plate and bowl in front of him.

Had he become free labor?

Sighing, Mason still set his work aside, got up, and took the dishes into the kitchen to wash them clean.
