Chapter 1649: Chapter 1668: Ready
"Your Highness, Your Highness, something bad has happened, Burbank is coming this way." Millie rushed in, flustered and stumbled, her arms and knees bruised from her haste.
"Your Highness, you must leave now!" Millie pushed the door open, grabbing Emil and attempting to pull him outside, "Burbank is almost at the door, if you don’t leave now, it will be too late."
Everyone in the Royal Family knew that whenever Burbank sought out Emil, no good would come of it. Burbank was Kaka’s confidant, handling special tasks for him. Moreover, Burbank was also a member of the Royal Family, making him the most fitting person to act against Emil.
Ordinarily, non-royals, though they might look down on Emil, would not dare easily make a move against him. After all, Emil was the young prince of the Kannaya Royal Family, the heir, and the sole son of the rebel leader Prince Cassey.
With so many layered identities, anyone would think twice about the potential consequences. But Burbank had no such concerns; even other royal members could only swallow their differing opinions.
As for Cassey, they had always been sworn enemies.
"This is bad!" Emil’s face changed dramatically; his once rosy, delicate face lost all color, turning from a soft, cute child into one with a sad and vexed demeanor like an adult. "It’s all my fault! It must have been that woman who noticed something wrong."
He was deeply frustrated. It was all because he underestimated that woman; had he been more cautious, the issues wouldn’t have been detected.
It was truly annoying.
"Let’s go! If we don’t, it will be too late." Millie was so anxious she was nearly in tears; her own life didn’t matter, but the young prince couldn’t die. The King had already lost his mind, and the future of the Kannaya Royal Family was now pinned on the young prince.
Emil didn’t hesitate and followed Millie to leave. Their arrangements had been set long ago; if not for his insistence on delivering Jiang Nanfei, a hostage, to his father, he would have left already.
Due to being undervalued, Emil was placed in a modest accommodation. However, despite its modesty, not a single guard was missing. Most had been secretly bought, and the remaining few were just for show.
If he truly wanted to leave, those few couldn’t stop him.
"Through the back door, it’s too late for the front." Millie, being an adult, walked with larger strides, wanting to pick Emil up, but he refused without hesitation.
"I can do it myself." He had already come to terms with his fate; in the future, he would face countless moments of fleeing and countless enemies. He must learn to grow up; there will always be a day when he must face things alone.
If he kept relying on others, needing someone to carry him even while escaping, he would end up despising himself.
He would also dishonor the title of heir to the Kannaya Royal Family.
Millie’s eyes reddened as she discreetly wiped the corners, her heart aching. The young prince had lost his mother at birth, and his father was imprisoned. Following the King always came with life-threatening dangers.
The young prince had indeed faced much hardship.
Emil ran swiftly on his short legs, and the two moved along a twisting, narrow alleyway. Just as they exited the back door, a pleasant voice echoed in front of them.
"Where do you think you’re going?" Lu Jin leaned sideways against a lamppost with arms crossed, watching Emil emerge from the back with a blank expression. At his feet lay five or six burly men sprawled in disarray.
