Chapter 993: Reinforcements
The moment he clicked [Yes], a large amount of information was dumped into his mind forcefully and as fast as possible, unlike all the previous times that he had bought knowledge from the system. With the soul pain he was feeling, this additional pain disappeared like a drop of water in the ocean, not leaving any trace of its existence.
The moment he finished digesting the knowledge amidst the continuing pain, he raised his already-risen eyebrows even higher as he wondered what this really meant. The system didn’t provide him with a full explanation of why he was doing it, just instructions to do something, and the rest, the system was going to handle. But the pain reminded him that he didn’t have the luxury of thinking about it for too long, as he now needed to relay the instructions to someone so that they could deliver the required materials.
Talking would have caused him to lose the mental control of the pain he was holding back, so he raised his hand, pointing it in the direction of Nova and sending out mana in super-rapid pulses for a whole minute continuously before stopping and returning his hand to resume his meditation.
{Understood,} Nova said before remaining silent, her present body not doing anything else but continuing to monitor the situation.
However, things were completely different everywhere else as orders were sent to different strategic material storage centers for specific materials to be prepared and handed over to the ships that would be coming to pick them up. At the same time, an atomic printer came alive and rapidly printed a large tank before it was boarded onto a ship to be delivered to the Emperor’s location, as Nova got to work on the given orders.
.......................
“What the heck is that?” Lee said as he got into a ready stance when he saw more than twenty ships heading towards them at a very high speed.
Although their situation was calm, he knew the empire was currently in an active war, so he didn’t leave anything to chance and was ready in case they were not imperial ships and he needed to protect the Emperor.
{They are my delivery, so don’t worry about them,} Nova said before Lee could make the first move and start attacking the ships indiscriminately. Although he looked like fat cotton, he was one of the strongest and most dangerous individuals in the empire, along with Ayaka. Though unlike Ayaka, he was not in the top ten but the top hundred, when it came to destroying things instead of people, he was stronger than Ayaka in that aspect.
“What are they here for?” Ayaka asked, curious, as she could sense the Fountain of Life and a few materials that had a very intriguing life force, making it easy for her to understand that these were herbs, and quite rare ones at that, ones that couldn’t be found in the empire.
{The Emperor requested them as a solution to the current problem,} Nova said, but just as she finished speaking, the spatial anchors surrounding them deactivated, followed by wormholes opening. Individuals with very strong auras started walking out of the wormholes, and among them was the Empress, who came out in full battle armor despite her four-month pregnant belly being fully visible.
“What the fuck is going on?” Lee asked, getting even tenser just seconds after having started relaxing following Nova’s answer.
With the Empress appearing together with individuals with very strong auras, his mind went to all the negatives, making him think that the Empress was trying to use this opportunity to deal with the Emperor, who was at his weakest and most vulnerable moment, and usurp power. He thought that all of these strong individuals were from her camp, to make sure the Emperor died, knowing that even a weakened Emperor was still a force to be reckoned with.
“If you are here for the Emperor, you have to go through me,” he said before covering the Emperor inside an unstable gravity bubble, where anything trying to go through it would either be crushed, torn apart, or both simultaneously.
{Calm down, Lee. They were requested by the Emperor as well to act as security,} Nova said as the spatial anchors were reactivated again, this time pushing all of them into the second level.
“Why? Why is this much force needed at this moment?” Lee asked, not easing his suspicion yet despite Nova being the one who gave the answer.
“In case we need to restrain the Emperor if his idea fails and he needs time to regain control. If that happens, we will be the ones responsible for trying to hold him down and prevent him from wreaking havoc on a strategic planet,” Rina was the one who answered this time, but her eyes, filled with worry, never left Aron.
Just as Lee was about to ask additional questions, he felt his gravity bubble around the Emperor being torn apart. As he turned his head, he found the Emperor slowly floating upwards, passing through the remaining parts of the bubble unharmed, before he extended his hands towards the ships that had arrived in his general area. Thankfully, the cargo bays were opened, as he didn’t look to have any patience and would have torn the ships apart to remove the containers in them.
“Do you know what he is about to do?” Seraphina asked, having arrived together with the Empress. All the creators of the people of Proxima had joined as well, along with a few imperial military personnel deemed strong enough to be used as strategic weapons, bringing the total number of people who were called by Nova to aid in restraining the Emperor if he lost control up to twenty in total.
{No, I don’t. He just gave the instructions to bring certain materials and gather you to restrain him,} Nova answered before deciding to replay the information relayed to her through the mana pulses and what it meant, wanting to clear the doubts in everyone.
While they were conversing, their eyes didn’t leave the Emperor, who had just torn the containers apart before dumping everything inside them into the large cylinder delivered from the atomic printer. Lastly, he poured enough Fountain of Life material to drown everything in the container, which immediately started reacting to the things inside.
Once he was done doing that, he didn’t linger in the air for too long, as he too dove inside the Fountain of Life. This caused a few of them, but mostly Ayaka and Rina, to gasp, as they knew the implications of the Emperor touching a liquid that would create a different individual, familiar to the one who touched it but distinctly different in identity and even DNA, meaning someone made of the Emperor’s new species was most likely going to be created.
