Legendary FBI Detective

Chapter 743 745: Identity

At half past ten in the morning, in a mid-range residential area in the southern part of New York City, a two-story apartment.

A group of SWAT officers, guns in hand, stood on guard at the entrance of the apartment, while several Crime Scene Investigation agents were methodically searching through computers and processing hard drives on the second floor.

Next to the study was a pink-toned bedroom exuding a girlish vibe, where Luo An sat on a chair with his arms crossed over his chest, silently watching a young woman sitting on the bed.

The young woman had a delicate face and sported golden short hair, looking not even thirty years old.

She glanced at Luo An apprehensively, and upon noticing her reaction, Luo An raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile:

"Seems like you recognize me."

"Of course."

The young woman swallowed, being in the intelligence business herself, knew there was no point in playing dumb. She responded:

"Luo An Greenwood, the youngest and most handsome Group Leader of the special investigations unit at the FBI Washington Headquarters.

He has solved many major cases, with a case closure rate that remains unbelievably at one hundred percent..."

The young woman showered Luo An with praise until her mouth was dry. Looking at Luo An, who then nodded slightly, she was prompted to:

"Go on."

She didn't feel embarrassed, nor had anything to refute, since these were all truths.

"..."

The young woman's mouth twitched into an awkward smile as she stammered:

"Group Leader Greenwood is truly... unconventional."

Seeing the young woman struggling to continue and seemingly wanting more, Luo An with a hint of dissatisfaction steered the conversation back to the main topic, saying:

"Jenisha, 26 years old, an orphan raised in an orphanage, a private detective who earns her keep by selling intelligence and taking clandestine photos for feuding couples, right?"

"Please call me a professional detective, Group Leader Greenwood."

Jenisha became very serious when her profession was mentioned:

"Sherlock Holmes is my idol, but I will surely surpass him. Providing information for those in need is my main line of work, and taking photos of cheating spouses for conflicted couples is just a side job."

Without arguing over this with Jenisha, Luo An briefly mentioned the situation of the assassin, then took out a photo of the assassin himself, found at the assassin's home, and shook it slightly, asking:

"What were the final results of the investigation he asked you to conduct?"

At the beginning of the interrogation of Anthony Soling, everyone, including Luo An, believed that the investigator found by the assassin was a man.

However, after Mona looked into it, it turned out that the investigator the assassin had hired was a woman named Jenisha.

And according to FBI records, she had been in this line of work for five years, seemingly youthful but actually quite seasoned.

Seeing the photo in Luo An's hand, Jenisha paused for a moment, then laughed and said:

"So Group Leader Greenwood brought so many people to see me today because of this."

Luo An smiled and said:

"It seems you've already figured it out."

"I indeed found quite a bit."

Realizing the purpose of Luo An's visit today, Jenisha gradually let down the heavy stone in her heart, her smile growing increasingly charming as she blinked and said:

"Group Leader Greenwood, business is business. I've spent a lot of time and effort investigating this matter, and you want to take it all away with just a word, isn't that a bit inappropriate?"

Jenisha didn't intend to ask for money from Luo An; she simply wanted to cultivate a relationship with him.

Having worked in the intelligence field for so long, she knew Luo An's girlfriend was Mona, a beautiful woman with long legs.

But she was no less attractive herself. If she could develop a relationship with Luo An, she would have a layer of official protection in the future. With a bit more effort, she might even gain official information sources.

Jenisha didn't feel at a loss doing this; sleeping with anyone is just that, so why not choose the best? Especially since Luo An was also so handsome.

Jenisha's eyes sparkled as she licked her lips and asked with a smile:

"Group Leader Luo An, what do you think?"

"In business terms, I think you make a very good point."

Luo An nodded in agreement with a smile, apparently endorsing Jenisha's point, but before she could speak, he continued to ask:

"But I am not a merchant; I am law enforcement. Since you say you are a merchant, here's a question for you:

Have you paid all the taxes you're supposed to over the years of doing business?"

Jenisha: "…"

A few minutes later, Luo An walked out of the apartment with a squad of SWAT members, unhurried.

In a car nearby, a few agents from the forensics department were working on a laptop, analyzing the information and materials Jenisha had turned over.

It wasn't long before the forensic agents had compiled everything and handed it to Luo An, who took a quick look and pulled out his phone to call Mona:

"It's me, Luo An."

"Hard work indeed,"

Mona said on the other end of the phone:

"Winslow and Reesi are all ready. How did things go on your end?"

"The person Jenisha found, who ordered the assassin to silence someone, is named Joseph Hank."

As he looked at the information in his hand, Luo An squinted his eyes and said:

"Joseph Hank, 56 years old, a retail magnate from Pennsylvania."

"OK."

The sound of keyboard keys being struck immediately echoed over the phone, and within seconds, Mona said:

"I've found Joseph Hank's current location. The address has been sent to Winslow and the others."

"Good, initiate the apprehension immediately, tell Winslow to be careful when arresting."

"Understood."

After a brief explanation, Luo An hung up the call.

This operation was designed by Luo An to take place on three fronts: Mona and Michelle would continue to oversee the central command, acting as the brain for everyone and coordinating information.

Luo An went to New York alone, teaming up with the local SWAT to gather documents from Jenisha.

Winslow, Reesi, and Chenier got their gear ready and quietly waited; as soon as Luo An got the information, they would immediately set off to make the arrest.

Now that Winslow and his team had left, Luo An started the car and left the neighborhood, heading towards Washington D.C.

Speeding along, just as Luo An arrived on the outskirts of Washington D.C., he received a call from Winslow:

"Luo An, the operation went smoothly, and we've made the arrest."

"Good."

Luo An nodded in satisfaction and then asked:

"Any casualties?"

"None, not even injuries."

Winslow's voice sounded slightly odd as he spoke:

"When me, Reesi, and Chenier, along with the local SWAT members, went to Joseph's home to arrest him, he didn't resist at all.

He even raised his hands willingly, letting us handcuff him.

It made us suspect Joseph had some sort of plan—like an ambush en route back or something. In the end, we chose to take a detour back to the SWAT headquarters."

After listening to Winslow's description, Luo An smiled and said:

"Being cautious doesn't hurt. You guys did well; take a short break and then escort Joseph back."

"No problem."

Winslow agreed without hesitation.

All three had anticipated a fight during the operation and were prepared for battle. However, they did not expect it to go so smoothly, and the journey ended up taking the most time.

At three-thirty that afternoon, Winslow and his group returned to the FBI in Washington D.C., and Luo An, accompanied by Michelle, entered the interrogation room. Before he could speak, Joseph smiled and said:

"You must be Luo An Greenwood, right?

I know your father. To be precise, we have a reasonably good relationship."
