Chapter 1198: Chapter 347: Elders: How Did Fang Ze Pull It Off? (Part 2)
When Fang Ze mentioned, “I can’t handle the Federal Elders, but I can still handle the Venerable,” the Elders were momentarily at a loss, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
To be honest, they even felt a bit honored: after all, in Fang Ze’s mind, their status was higher than that of a Venerable.
After describing the Special Case Team’s investigation process, Fang Ze patted Venerable Moon Rabbit on the shoulder and said, “Venerable, why don’t you share your journey with us?”
Seeing Fang Ze patting Venerable Moon Rabbit as if she were a subordinate, the Elders couldn’t help but twitch their eyelids.
After all, Venerable Moon Rabbit held immense prestige among the upper echelon of the Human Race. Fang Ze truly didn’t treat the Venerable with much regard.
To the Elders’ surprise, despite Fang Ze’s casual demeanor, Venerable Moon Rabbit wasn’t the least bit offended; if anything, there was a hint of ingratiating expression in her words.
This shocked the Elders even more.
Then, Venerable Moon Rabbit recounted in detail what she had confessed to the Special Case Team.
Faced with Venerable Moon Rabbit’s confession, the Elders didn’t easily believe it. Instead, they first used various methods to verify her identity.
Only after confirming that Venerable Moon Rabbit was indeed not an impostor, they started to thoughtfully consider the matter.
As experienced strategists, they of course realized that Fang Ze and Venerable Moon Rabbit had concealed some things. But this didn’t significantly affect the truth of the matter.
More concerning to the Elders than this harmless concealment was the information the incident revealed. After all, it concerned their judgment of the situation in the current inter-realm war.
After some serious contemplation, the Federation Chairperson first glanced at Fang Ze, then questioned Venerable Moon Rabbit, “Venerable, I want to ask: Do the other Venerables know about your confession? What is their stance on it?”
Hearing the Chairperson’s inquiry, Venerable Moon Rabbit casually replied, “They don’t know; I came on my own. After all, if they did know, they’d probably go mad, right?”
The Federation Chairperson pondered for a moment, then spoke again, “Moving forward, do you plan to keep this from them and to be candid with us in private?”
Upon hearing this, Venerable Moon Rabbit didn’t immediately respond. Instead, she looked towards Fang Ze.
Fang Ze gave her a slight nod.
Venerable Moon Rabbit slightly raised her head, “Of course.”
The Federation Chairperson, “So, over the years, how much of the information you’ve given us has been true, and how much has been false? Would it be possible for you to highlight this for us?”
He added, “Especially concerning top-tier combat power and Absolute Pinnacle cultivation in the Outer Realm.”
Upon hearing this, Venerable Moon Rabbit again looked at Fang Ze, and after receiving his approval, she nodded in agreement.
Witnessing this, the five Vice Chairpersons reconfirmed the unusual relationship between Fang Ze and Venerable Moon Rabbit. They also noted that Fang Ze appeared to be the dominant party in their relationship. Silently, they exchanged glances.
Subsequently, with Venerable Moon Rabbit’s assistance, the Vice Chairpersons reviewed the intelligence received from the Peace Faction Venerables over the years.
With the Federation’s rapid computing capabilities and Venerable Moon Rabbit’s demigod-level cognitive efficiency, this task didn’t take much time.
Meanwhile, Fang Ze noticed that the Elders clearly prioritized intelligence crucial to the war effort over internal Human Race spies.
This could be due to their consistently held governance philosophy: the key to this war is to defeat the Outer Realm demigods, not to cleanse internally. After all, once the Human Race gains the upper hand in the domain war, internal issues will naturally resolve themselves…..
…..
Soon, an entire afternoon had passed.
This was the longest time in recent years that the five Elders had collectively stepped away from their respective posts.
After sorting through all the key intelligence from recent years, Fang Ze and Venerable Moon Rabbit courteously took their leave without further disturbing the Elders.
Though Venerable Moon Rabbit was a “suspect” in this case, not a single person present proposed to punish or deal with her: after all… the Human Race wasn’t yet powerful enough to govern an Outer Realm Venerable. The law is only valid within the range of one’s artillery…
Once Fang Ze and Venerable Moon Rabbit were gone, the five Elders continued to hold a private meeting.
Behind closed doors, Vice Chairperson Meng spoke first, “It’s roughly as we anticipated. Their information is partly false, having made alterations and hidden key data.”
“Fortunately, during our research and development, we opted for high fault tolerance directions, or else many projects might have failed over the years.”
The Special Service Department head, Deputy Chairperson Jing, nodded slightly, then coldly said, “Also, the strength of the Outer Realm is far greater than they informed us. Luckily, we weren’t overly optimistic and made more preparations; otherwise, we might have had to surrender by now. A misjudgment in key enemy strength comparisons can lead to disastrous destruction.”
Senior Vice Chairperson Tian lightly nodded at these words, adding, “However, we still shouldn’t entirely rely on information provided by Venerable Moon Rabbit. I don’t doubt she may continue lying, but I do worry she may not fully understand the most authentic Outer Realm.”
Next, each of the Elders shared their opinions.
Gradually, they began to discuss the main contributor to this event, Fang Ze.
Looking at the other Elders, the Chairperson asked, “What do you think of Fang Ze?”
He didn’t mention “establishing merit” or “reward,” for at Fang Ze’s level and theirs, achievements were less important than stances and the future.
Upon hearing the Chairperson’s question, the other Elders exchanged glances, and surprisingly, it was the normally stringent Senior Vice Chairperson Tian who spoke first. He began slowly, “The reason Fang Ze turned Venerable Moon Rabbit to our side is twofold: to show us his stance and to prove his worth.”
“There’s no denying, he indeed has the potential to become a Human Race Venerable.”
He paused here before adding, “In fact, one could say he is unparalleled among the current candidates.”
“Therefore, I believe we can appropriately offer him support to see how far he can go.”
“For example… appoint him as Acting Chairperson of the Eastern Administrative Region under the Federation’s name, letting him formally take control of the Eastern Administrative Region.”
“Or, allocate more resources or even assign him one of our research facilities in the Outer Realm to help expedite his Divine Fiend resurrection experiment.”
“Additionally… the military bases in the Eastern Administrative Region, many are destroyed or damaged, we can assist him in rebuilding.”
Mild-mannered Vice Chairperson Meng, thinking more broadly, hesitated before asking, “Would Fang Ze suspect our motives for doing such things? After all… such actions could easily lead to misunderstandings.”
In response to this concern, the Chairperson shook his head slightly, saying, “Don’t worry, he won’t. Fang Ze and we are alike, and he’s already realized that we are kindred spirits: when faced with a common enemy, we unite and avoid internal strife.”
After making this statement, the Chairperson looked at the other Elders again and said, “If there are no objections, I’ll have my assistant start drafting the documents once I return.”
With both the first and second ranked Elders agreeing, none of the other Elders raised objections, and all nodded in agreement….
….
One must admit, the Chairperson chose wisely.
Just as he said: faced with a formidable enemy, Fang Ze wasn’t interested in internal political struggles within the Human Race. After understanding the ins and outs of this matter, his mind was focused on the Outer Realm, strategizing to win over a second Venerable.
With the successful experience of subduing Venerable Moon Rabbit, Fang Ze gained much confidence in winning over this new Venerable.
