Chapter 273: 273 - Compendium Techniques: Tools, Potions, and Skills

After training for who-knows-how-long, Rygar finally halted his movements when a familiar sound echoed.

The Magic Letter Device in his pocket had a new message. The glow of the runes flickered and a message appeared, it was Aisha:

"Master, are you okay?"

Only then did Rygar realize how lost in time he had become.

He had told Verdia that he wouldn’t spend the night at home, but since then, a lot of time had passed and after beginning to train he got even more absorbed.

Oldgar’s book really was long and there were so many revelations at every moment.

He picked up the device and wrote his reply:

"I’m fine. Make sure Eris, Ghislaine and Verdia are at home tonight, and go there yourself too. I have something serious to discuss."

Aisha’s reply did not take long to arrive:

"Okay!"

Having obtained the confirmation, Rygar set the device aside. He closed his eyes for a moment and decided to return his attention to the Guide.

He was now in the final part.

Up to that point, the book had given him all kinds of knowledge — both about Time-Space and about future events.

That alone was useful beyond measure.

But the last part, in theory, was what could be most advantageous to him. A record of skills that he would only acquire in the future, and also suggestions written by someone who had lived that destiny firsthand.

Rygar estimated that he could finish the reading by night.

And right after that, he wanted to talk with the family.

He turned the page, and the text began plainly.

---

"This is the final part of the Guide, in which you will probably also have to consult many times, due to the complexity of several techniques that will be mentioned here.

I think you can probably speculate how powerful I became over time. But know this, most of it is due simply to accumulation. To excessive, exhausting and repetitive training.

Both in the perfection of swordsmanship — until I could cut even space itself — and in the manipulation of magic, to the point where I could influence the Vacuum, Gravity and even the Photons of Light.

None of this can be achieved without training. Talent and spells are only a key, nothing more.

Do not expect to become ’superpowered’ just by reading these techniques. What this book contains are facilitators.

It is the same difference between trying to invent something by trial and error and having the chance to read about it to learn; it will be considerably faster.

Even without a teacher, with my references and notes, you will be able to reach my power in less time. If you are truly good, it might take half the time it took me. And then, you will be able to continue progressing, going beyond what I was.

But as I have said, most of this is still the result of tireless training.

Do not expect all techniques to be as easy as the Celestial Sealing Spell.

That one I designed to be simple and easy for you to learn, and you were already studying that concept even in your era. Other techniques will not be so accessible.

You also do not need to worry about learning everything at once, learn only what seems most useful to you first.

Let’s begin with something that made me absolutely happy when I completed it. You, probably, will not have the same feeling. But for me it was very striking.

Seeing Eris aging faster than the rest of us was not pleasant, even if she herself did not care. Therefore, here it is:

The God-Level Healing Spell: Rejuvenation. The enchantment is as follows:

’Oracle of the end and the beginning,

to the Five Kings of Preta I present myself with merciless eyes...’"

---

Oldgar was right. For the current Rygar, that Rejuvenation spell was something valuable, but not absolutely necessary.

The humans closest to him, like Aisha and Eris, were still in their youth, and those who naturally had a longer life expectancy — like his parents, friends, Ghislaine and Verdia — still had many years ahead.

Rygar could not fully understand the feeling Oldgar had when he saw Eris aging, but he felt grateful not to have to deal with such a situation.

He thought to himself that, if the opportunity arose, he might try to refine that spell in the future.

The Guide gradually showed why Oldgar had reserved an entire section for techniques and suggestions.

He had not written only the main enchantment — which was already complex in itself — but also detailed notes, observations, and meticulous explanations.

That single spell already occupied several pages, almost as if it were a small grimoire within the Guide itself.

After Rejuvenation, the book moved on to other topics.

The following pages were dedicated to an upgrade of the Magic Letter Device and to an item called Arcane Call, which allowed long-distance calls.

The new messaging device was popularized as Magic Word.

Rygar soon realized that it was not a compendium only of combat techniques, but also gathered support, convenience and utility magics.

The upgrade to the magical communication system had a lot of potential.

If the Kingdom of Gaia had access to this, its administration and defenses would become incomparably more efficient.

Moving on, the Guide addressed methods of creating, strengthening and raising Magical Beasts.

There were particularly detailed instructions for Dragons and Wolves, two species that, according to the timeline described, would become the main companions and mounts in the future of the Kingdom of Gaia.

There was even an elite unit called Dragon Knights, who, eighty years later, would fiercely fight the armies of Laplace.

Rygar also found references and teachings about the Mana Potion and the Vigor Potion.

The former would be invented in the future by Rudeus Greyrat and would serve to regenerate mana in a more practical way.

Oldgar discovered that the effect would be reduced or even null in individuals who possessed the Laplace Factor. Speaking of which, Rygar was surprised to discover that he himself was a carrier of that Laplace Factor.

This served as a reference point to better understand the origins of his own magical talent.

The Vigor Potion, in turn, would be created by one of his children and would spread rapidly across the world, mainly among men, who had a very pertinent use for the potion.

Even beyond its ’medicinal’ use, they were also extremely useful for prolonged fights.

After finally passing the utility and invention sections, he finally reached the combat techniques Oldgar had created for himself — and now, for Rygar.

The first descriptions covered high-level elemental magics.

Oldgar, however, had no intention of transcribing all the magics he knew; he highlighted only the most useful ones, besides those that were his own creations.

Among these creations were the Divine Lightning Herald, a spell that seemed to be an extraordinarily amplified version of the Lightning Mantle, and the Immolating Sword of Judgment Day, a devastating fire technique.

Other magics included manipulations of Vacuum and even a God-Level Gravity Magic.

While reading the descriptions and specifications of these magics, Rygar noticed a pattern.

Oldgar, over the years, had increasingly leaned toward magics that strengthened his speed, power and other physical attributes, as well as spells of extremely high destructive power, but focused on limited targets.

It was exactly the same path that Rygar himself had been planning to follow.

Oldgar had a vast range of magics at his disposal, but his true strength against extreme-level enemies came from hybrid use — sword strikes capable of cutting anything accompanied by natural cataclysms summoned by his Magic.

A true Magic Swordsman who mastered the duality of Mana at the highest level.

The Guide also provided indications of where Rygar could find other high-level magics scattered around the world.

But he did not put them in the Guide for not considering them necessary.

After all, what use would it be for him to learn something like the God-Level Ice Age Magic, capable of freezing an entire continent?

Not only would it be ineffective in direct combat against an opponent, but it would also be an unthinkable atrocity for someone like Rygar.

Having closed the magic sections, the Guide delved into the topics of swordsmanship. Most consisted of corrections, adjustments and improvements to techniques already known to Rygar.

There were also some new additions, designed to complement his style, and detailed instructions on how to execute with Touki the techniques that Rygar himself had already been theorizing in his mind.

Oldgar had already anticipated his line of reasoning and handed him the answers he was still seeking.

Finally, after pages of magics and combat refinements, Rygar reached the final part of the techniques, that of the "magical items". After that part, only suggestions and guidelines would remain.

To his surprise, instead of an extensive list, there was only one item recorded.

He was especially curious as he read it.

The text continued as follows:

---

"You must be surprised, right? Only one magical item? And the ten or fifteen items you were planning to create? Well then, I’ll tell you at once: that’s bullshit!

No one in this world needs so many magical items, or anything close to that amount.

Rid yourself of those illusions you still carry — they are the influence of your earthly mind, when you devoted yourself to creating games and complex systems.

Here, in this world, reality is different. A single good item, provided it has truly significant effects and versatility of use, is more than enough.

Throughout my life, more than one person proved this to me. The point is very simple: for offense, you already possess the Doomsday Sword.

Trust me when I say that it will be more than enough to defeat your opponents. That blade didn’t even break in the confrontation with the Godsword of the Dragon God.

Of course, that is due to the fact that I was wielding it; if it had been someone weaker, it certainly would have shattered.

But the same applies to Orsted’s sword.

What I want you to understand is that, Youngar, you still have no notion of what you created at the moment that blade was born.

It is on the same level as a masterpiece like the Armor of the Fighter God.

Well, as you well know, to match the monsters and opponents you will have to face, it will be necessary to possess items of that caliber; Doomsday is one of them.

And what I, together with Rufus, Godbard and some of the greatest smiths and artisans the Kingdom of Gaia has ever seen, perfected after decades of research and countless improvements, was the Sköllvindr Armor — the Armor that Devours the Sun.

I named it in homage to the death of Skoll, but you can change its name if you prefer, since in your time he is still alive.

Do not be mistaken, although it is called an ’armor’, its effects go far beyond mere defense.

The applied knowledge, the magic technology incorporated, as well as the rare materials we used, are far beyond what you can comprehend at this moment.

Just trying to absorb all the details of the project will require tireless dedication from you and your artisans.

Rufus was one of the main people responsible for shaping this armor. In my time, he was already recognized for that; but in your time he must be only fifteen years old.

Still, trust him. Believe in his potential.

Within about forty years, he should rise and be acclaimed as the new Ore God.

Tell him to get involved at any cost, because without his participation this project will be difficult to realize.

Well, here it is. The complete project. It is extensive, complex and full of layers. Do not even try to understand everything at once. Just study, learn, and when you have it, you will understand how a single armor can be enough."

---

Just below, engraved with elegant lines, the title stood out:

Sköllvindr Armor — The Armor that Devours the Sun.
