Chapter 264: Vexical Prime: Enemy Patrol
Jace moved away from the door and immediately made several common hand signals. The rest of them who had served in the Vexical Military immediately recognized them and began moving. They were moving into defensive positions. Jace had only so much he could do with just his armor.
But from the sounds he was picking up and what the others began to hear it would be better if the enemy did not notice them. They could hear mechanical stepping noises along with the shuffling of feet and talking.
"Why are we on this backwater planet?" One of the soldiers outside grunted in annoyance. "How are we going to get anything done here? The only thing we have found is a bunch of civilians but it would be more accurate to call them target practice! Hahaha!"
Jace moved up to a position by the door. But as he did they could hear a yelp from one of the children followed by one of the adults shushing them. He rolled his eyes under his helmet and activated his camouflage feature. But it blinked red, then an automated message popped up that basically said his armor was unable to use that feature.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance as he could hear a set of foot steps redirect the door of the building they were inside of. "Hey what are you three doing-" The loud mouth enemy soldier stopped mid-sentence along with the mechs that were with him.
The door slowly opened and Jace held up a hand indicating to the police and soldiers to hold their fire. He was behind the door as it opened and a person walked in. "By the rule of the Montez Kingdom you civilians are to surrender. As for you soldiers, you will be sent to the gallows."
Jace quietly materialized the gladius in his hand. Then watched as a few more soldiers moved into the room. None of them were wearing any decent armor. It was just body armor helmets and pads throughout their limbs. Jace raised the hand that did not have the sword and signaled for the others to go out the back door. They probably should have gone out of it at the start but Jace was worried about the door making noise and guaranteeing the attention of these Montez Kingdom soldiers.
Jace saw a police officer nod. So then he waited until the six enemy soldiers had filed into the room. He then put his hand on the door and slowly closed it. "It is just some civilians, soldiers, and armed police officers-"
Clunk!
The door closed and caused the speaking soldier to stop speaking and spin around. But Jace was already moving. The pair who were covering the others and were closest to the door were the first to be decapitated. Their heads were already in the air.
Jace ran past them and went to the enemies closer to the others. Three of them were moving to grab weapons from the soldiers but the last one that was speaking was the next closest. "Holy Shit! Gah!-" He was literally cut off as Jace cut through his neck.
He then moved to the last three who began turning around at their comrades’ shout. He started from the left and moved to the right. So the farthest one to his right managed to step back and trip on a piece of debris which worked in his favor. Because Jace’s sword sailed right over the enemy’s helmet.
They raised their weapons to shoot at him. But Jace reached forward and grabbed the barrel and pointed it at the front wall of the building. Away from the civilians and others who began moving out of the back door.
"What’s going on in there?!" They could hear someone scream from the outside.
"Its some-"
Crack!
Jace’s boot slammed on the enemy soldier’s head. Turning it into a bloody mess. Jace turned his attention to the enemy outside before they began firing at this building. Because the civilians might get caught in the crossfire.
He tensed his legs and jumped up and toward the wall leading to the street. The second floor’s ground of this building had collapsed so he could jump right up through the wall of the second floor. He was sure it looked terrifying to those outside, but jumping from this height would both catch them off guard and let him get a look at the enemy’s numbers.
There were six more infantry soldiers all with varying types of weapons. Two vehicles that seemed to be carrying spare munitions for the mech and extra personal. Four Power Armor units, all of which were equipped with a weapon and a shield. Then two Walker Mech which were equipped with ranged weapons on its sides. The bulky design made it so they could not do anything else. They were just a bit taller than the single floor of a human designed building. Then the last unit was a Trojan Mech, they were a bit taller than a three story building. All of the mech units from the Montez Kingdom were based on knights and these were no exception. They had extravagant plates of armor and the Trojan had a sword for actual combat.
Now that Jace had seen all they had he was able to figure out a plan. Now it was time to get to work, but first as he landed he changed his gladius to the longsword. He would need the extra length.
Dust flew up as he dashed right toward the nearest unit, a Power Armor. They were basically other countries’ attempts at replicating the Infantry armor, except it was far more bulky. Because of its bulky size it left room for gaps in its defense between plates of armor.
One of those gaps was where Jace slid his long sword into as he jumped on the Power Armor’s shoulder. There was a moment where he could hear a muffled shriek followed by the armor going slack.
But before it fell he was already jumping through the air toward the nearest Walker Mech, ignoring the other Power Armor he was passing right over. This fight would be his first time fighting hand-to-hand against mech. So despite the dire circumstances he was grinning from ear to ear.
