Chapter 276: Vexical Prime: Geared Up

Jace finished putting on his gear and then pulled up his weapon of choice. He was using the Tri-Cannon again. But this time it would be far more dangerous for both him and his allies. He would become a main target, not that he was not planning to become one anyways. While his allies would be affected by the shockwaves given off by the Tri-Cannon when it fired.

He did not load it yet and instead just carried the large weapon on his shoulder while the ammunition hung off him. The others had all switched to weapons made by the Fire Weapons Corporation as well. They were more effective against those without armor since it would tear right through them.

The Fire Weapons Corporation has existed as long as the Vexical Empire has been in power. Instead of most companies that focused on political and military ties they focused on trade and their products are more quality over quantity. Which is the same reason that the Vexical Empire is the only place they exist.

Most countries grow vast militaries that use a lot of goods that are replaceable after only a few battles. Basically dependent on the idea that their soldiers will perish and their equipment will be lost. It is a common concept among most other militaries which promotes their governments to buy more goods for the same amount. Making their concepts more quantity over quality.

If he recalled from the reports they actually managed to get squared away in the Princesses territory. She managed to get a large number of corporations and industrial groups under her control. While also using her own private trade guards as a military. She did it in such a way that no laws were broken even though she was openly doing it.

"That looks like it can turn a human into mist." The Mercenary Boss pointed out as Jace sauntered over the elevator. Jace had already paid this group of mercenaries so they were no longer tense around them and were letting them raid the armory. Shepard was the only one who had already finished. Siting himself as more of a commander and spy he only had a side arm and some body armor. So he joined Jace and the Mercenary Boss on the elevator.

Jace grinned under his helmet at the thought of hitting a human straight on with a round from the Tri-Cannon. It would do far worse than just turn them into mist. Just having a round fly near an enemy could kill them. "Sorry to disappoint but this weapon will not be used for enemy infantry." Jace told them as they gathered on the elevator and the Mercenary Boss pressed a button. Causing the elevator to head down to a lower floor.

"Really then what will you use it for? Space craft?" The Mercenary Boss asked with a chuckle while Shepard had a troubled expression on his face.

"Mechs, vehicles, flying vehicles, I might even use it against a few buildings." Jace explained with a monotone voice. Bringing the impact that he was completely serious. "If I do use it against enemy infantry it will be overkill."

The elevator slid down while there was an uncomfortable chuckle from the Mercenary Boss. "If it is that heavy duty, is it safe to have it indoors?"

"Yeah it is not loaded." Jace answered and then looked over his other shoulder at Shepard. "It is a weapon design we stole from Lord Hoodwink. We did not go out of our way to make such a weapon if that is what you are thinking."

"What was its original intent?" Shepard asked in response when he understood that Jace wanted to calm his worries about the type of weaponry Spectres were using.

"It seemed to be a failed chain weapon that he started using as a mounted weapon. I believe he intended it as an anti-infantry weapon. But it just took a bit of work to modify it into a proper chain gun. Unfortunately most sentient creatures cannot be near it to fully utilize it. Then mounting it to a complex system is detrimental because it has too much force to keep it in place, it just shakes machines apart. So it can only be utilized in simple mounts, like on the back of a vehicle." Jace explained as the elevator soon arrived at a new floor.

He walked out to see they had set up a holographic map on the ground of a large swath of the city with four buildings all highlighted. They were the locations of the mercenary groups that the Mercenary Boss had mentioned. A skinny man in glasses walked up, pushing his glasses up. "Here are the specifics on everything we have." He handed Jace a data tablet with perfectly formed lists and information. The set up was similar to the militaries, but it was simplified and more efficient.

They had the statistics that Jace was already thinking about. The amount of weapons, equipment, and vehicles they had in hand. Then the amount of civilians and specific numbers for children and genders. Amount of mercenaries broken down into each group, all with their specific division or specialty. Then there were the unusable assets, such as space vessels they have at the nearby space port.

As he was looking over this information the Mercenary Boss did the introduction to the holograms of people that appeared around the map. One each for each of the buildings. "Allow me to introduce our new boss. Spectre Jace of MILD. He hired our group and has offers for your groups as well."

"What is he, a noble or something? How can he fish out the creds to pay us in a situation like this?" One of them with a loose accent asked. If he recalls that specific accent comes from Talus System.

"Spectres are the new specialized division of soldiers in the Vexical Military. I heard they are the cream of the crop. But with strange armor like that, I would not doubt it. That is not any type of custom armor I have seen. Even the new Shock Trooper armor is not that closed up and smooth." A robotic voice spoke up, it came from another of the Mercenary leaders. This one was an aquatic beast hybrid. He could tell because the breathing device he was wearing over his mouth was supplying him with water, along with his exposed scales along his neck.

"So we have a high ranking military member as our contractor. How curious?" The last one was a female voice. Looking at her hologram he raised an eyebrow at her risqué appearance.
