Chapter 348: Bad Guests

Jace shook his head and a wave of energy spread out from him. His body tensed as he spread his control over the entire area. The gang members froze in place but their facial expressions still changed. "What the hell!" "Hey what is going on!" "I can’t move my body!" "Me neither!" The gang members began screaming.

"No you cannot." Jace chuckled. "I am restraining you so you do not get yourself killed." Jace told them as he felt the mental strain of restricting the electrical impulses of over twenty people. This was a new trick he had been developing recently. He did not get a chance to use it when they raided the republic’s capital.

But now that he was using it he realized he should hold back on using it too much. Jace waved his hand at the ones along one side. A second later several light blue lasers raced out of the garage and hit them. Blue electricity arced across their body and they fell unconscious so Jace released his control over them and it got easier to control the others.

"Now what should we do with all of you?" Jace asked. Contemplating what he should do to get their bosses attention. Killing them would be overkill. But maybe torture... no that would send the wrong message. He did not want to start a one man war on a crime faction when he only just wanted to get their attention so they could talk. "How about you go get someone with a bit more pull in your group?" Jace requested.

"I can take you-" The farting man started. But a bolt of yellow through the knee had him screaming instead. He collapsed to the ground and Jace shook his head.

"Bring me someone competent." He then walked over and closed the garage door and the hard light security barrier. Once they were closed he released the gang members from his control and could hear several gasps and heavy breathing as people recovered.

Then one in particular ordered the others to grab their unconscious members and the farting man as he had fallen unconscious. Within minutes they were gone and Jace had started cleaning his place. While his and Cain’s Hollows cleaned the garage area he went up the ladder and began cleaning the second floor bedroom.

After a bit he managed to strip down the bed and other pieces of furniture down to their base components. Then he put them through the material converter. He was able to turn the bed mat into a new one by cycling it through the material converter. There was not much he could do with the sheets though. They were partially organic and handwoven which would just destroy the sheets. So he set them to the side. He might as well hand them off to the local orphanage or homeless shelter, if there was one.

The amount of times he ended up sleeping with a tattered hand-me-down blanket was numerous. That gave him comfort during times of cold. When the city would go dark and the power would go out during a winter storm. Not that their building had power when the rest of the city did anyways. It was a reminder and part of the reason he had decided to come back to his roots in the first place.

Once he was done with the second floor all he had left was the bed mat. Which Cho had decided to take a nap on. So he just went back down to the garage floor and looked around at the process. The Hollows had cleaned most of the Garage by the time he had finished upstairs. Now they were bringing in metal from the stairwell. Next would be the balcony up on the second floor.

Jace could start setting up the rest of his equipment now. But first he had to plan out the room. The first of the things to plan was where to store the Hollows. Having them on opposite sides of the room would be a good idea. Then he should store the weapons on the thicker wall of the garage. He will keep a few weapons up in his sleeping area. Then there needs to be a kitchen and a lounge. He should make all of that on the left side near the storage, bathroom, and the stairwell that leads to the roof.

That part of the building had structurally weaker walls. Which was the main reason for his organization strategy. His not as important things would go to the weaker portion of the building. While his research and projects would be near the stronger section of the building. But that was only a temporary thing. Just like the hard light door barriers he had ideas to turn a small building like this into a fortress.

He just needed time and a bit of creative thinking. Both of which he currently had in spades. So he spent a few hours finishing work before he decided to go out for some food. There was a place to eat just down the road.

"Cho, you want to go out?" Jace called up to a sleeping Cho. He looked up from his position in the partially made kitchen. He was feeling hungry so he might as well go out and grab some food. "Cain, do you want to stay or join us?"

"I am fine. I will finish cleaning the upstairs area and the rest of the building while you are gone. Can I install a station for me to interface with the digital network?" Cain requested from the Hollow body. While Jace had the other one move to sit on a set of stairs and then released his control.

Jace turned to the garage door and opened it. "Close it after we leave." Cho jumped down from the second floor as Jace walked out. She ran over to join him.

[Can Cho have human food?] Cho asked.

"Sure. I do not see why not. It is not like your species has a specific diet." Jace answered as he led the way down the sidewalk as they could hear the garage close behind them.
