Chapter 568: The People

Chapter 568: The People

The situation in the west is getting worse.

But for whom?

Is it the Brolgadhr tribe who has long gaze toward the west and whose ambition to unify the Southern Great Steppe clear to all?

Is it the Cha Ner Ul Alliance that wanted to split the Southern Great Steppe into two?

Or is it the contender for this vast land like Esbizuk and the tribes in the upper part of the Southern Great Steppe.

The battle for the West of the Southern Great Steppe is about to begin and all the forces in the Southern Great Steppe who had a stake in this begins scheming and planning

There are those who would aid, and there are those who would hinder and there are people who prefer the status quo

Some wanted to create a new order, some wanted to bring about a new world

All the great heroes of the West will fight in this war that would determine the trend of the world!

.. ..

Brolgadhr Palace

Inside The Study Room Of The Kan

Clang!

Dong!

"Waste, all of them" Aeryon throws the scrolls toward the ground.

The scroll first hit the other scrolls and even some newly built jug and mug in the table, falling to the ground from the wooden table

Aeryon eyes is red with anger and his chest is moving up and down but then he takes a deep breath

This is his way of trying to calm himself down

But even though he takes a deep breath he could not help but feel anger surge again.

He did not know who he is angry about. Is it to his people that could not ease his worries or to the enemies that did not follow his desire?

He knows it is illogical to get angry like this, but he wanted to vent and so the scrolls became the venting object

He sat down on his chair.

This chair is made from wood, and it is a sitting chair, taller than a normal chair. It is made by a craftsman from the northern region

The craftsman from the northern region, which is from the Northern Great Steppe is more of an expert.

It is because of their proximity to civilization that is close to Roma. In other words, they adapted certain knowledge of Roma into their knowledge tree.

The northern Great Steppe itself has their own technology that they brought from their doomed island

Aeryon learns a little about the story of the Eresian. Eresian and Ashran is one of the three great races in the Steppe.

But after thousands of years of intermarriage, even the most pure blooded Marynku probably has some blood of either Eresian and Ashran

Ashran is like the people of the West in his world. Eresian however, resembles a bit like of that Viking people, Norsemen

But unlike Ashran who could trace their migration patterns from a land far away, in their stories and songs, Eresian comes from someplace that seems imaginary

If not for the fact that so many people attested to it, many Ashana would have dismiss it as some tall tales

They migrated from the sea to land, from land to the Great Steppe.

The stories are a thousand years old so it is hard to know whether there is a grain of truth in those stories

Stories of a Burning Sea and a Burning Continent

But before they came to the Steppe, they have their own civilization, their own empires and kingdoms.

And their technology is quite advanced at that time and these knowledge was passed down.

One of the most prized ability of the Eresian was their ability to forge weapons.

It is how the Northern Great Steppe maintained their independence from outside invaders for thousands of years.

But it is an eternal truth.

That if you do not advance, then you would regress.

Roma is an empire that passes this test and advance their learnings.

The Steppe is not a place to create schools even more a thousand years ago when gods and demons roamed the world

The Eresian itself when coming here, came with only a few tens of thousands of people.

They had to assimilate with the people of the Steppe and the cultures of these two mixed together.

But the craftsman of the Northern Great Steppe learned and adapt and when Roma attack the nearby tribes of the Northern Great Steppe, the people of the Steppe in the north finally get to know that in a land north from them there is a behemoth

The only reason why Roma never set foot on the Great Steppe is because there is a barrier of thousand miles regions of forest and mountain of other tribes

Aeryon when he first heard their names, he is reminded of those Germanic barbarian tribes.

Roma is basically Rome.

But none of this matter right now

Aeryon is thinking about a chair right now simply because he wanted to calm himself down.

His chest heaved up and down.

Then he could not help but get up again from the chair

" A confederation? You have got to be kidding me? This must be the Cha Ner Ul scheme?" he thought to himself before calming himself down.

The report he has is not a good news report. It is a report that the Aoshizan tribe is now suddenly shaking hands with Oglan tribe, Tare tribe and Toghrul tribe all of a sudden

Just before, all of these tribes seems to be eyeing each other. Yes, they also is wary of Aoshizan tribe and Khagai tribe but they are also wary of each other

There seems to be a fire that would about to break out in the upper part of the western area but then suddenly like it is being doused by water, this fire was extinguished almost immediately.

What worries him is that he knows nothing about this. How did Chadha does it, how does the conversation goes, who talks and who listens?

How could he not be angry? His spies could not even break through the inner circle of Chadha

Aeryon could not help feel anger rushing again to his brain so he close his eyes, thinks about chairs and about other things to calm his anger

The scrolls did not only details failure of getting news from the west. It is also about the sudden ramping up of movement in the west

"They must be planning something there"

Aeryon always knew Chadha never trusted him.

So, he has always knows that Chada would make a move

"Chadha probably knows that I am gunning for the west now" Aeryon mutters to himself

Outside these tents, his men , his advisors, his family, clans and tribe are all preparing to coronation

But Aeryon could not even celebrate.

If not for the part that this coronation would be a symbolic and a way to increase his legitimacy and create some kind of ritual for his descendant to follow, he would probably do away with it

Gathering people hearts has never been so important as it is today.

Just like in Yan, people is important. The way is a bit different but it is the same tat whether it is in yan or the Great Steppe, people is needed

In Yan, the people is needed to farm, to pay taxes, to become soldiers. In the Steppe however, the people mentioned here is not the common people

The common people did not have such bargaining power with the ruling class of the Steppe.

The chief of the Steppe might not have towering buildings and structures like in Roma or large complex palaces like in Yan, but the chief does have great power over the people

Reputation in yan and reputation in the Great Steppe held different values

In yan, reputation could be used to gain scholars and aristocratic family support.

In the Steppe, it is used to gain the warriors and the warlike clans and tribe to allied with you.

Those who talk too much is weak, and those who are strong could use iron and blood to pave their way

"And Chadha really knows how to use his influence" Aeryon mutters to himself. Right now, he is thinking what to do in the west. He could not just let it go

There is a high chance that the West would try to find a way to disrupt his coronation. Mayeux had set up people to dismantle any threat covertly but there is always a chance, that something wrong could happen

The alliance between them was never something formal.

And considering that the relations between them since Chadha created the Cha Ner Ul Alliance, Aeryon believes that alliance has long dissipated..

The alliance between him and Chadha is more of a gentleman agreement instead of a formal alliance

But even if they did agree on an alliance, in front of hegemony , in front of the ambition for the world, Aeryon is quite sure even if there is an alliance, that alliance would be broken

After all, it is not like they have some binding alliance like the way Aeryon has with Utgard tribe.

Aeryon could not help but think a little bit more about certain things and plan
