Chapter 1160: Chapter 1160: Mr. Foster, your awkward appearance is really cute

Mrs. Martin didn’t genuinely want Isabelle and Jeffrey Foster to be together; her daughter’s self-pitying, timid demeanor simply triggered her competitive spirit.

She felt she had spent half her life raising a beautiful and charming daughter, so how come she couldn’t catch an older man? Especially one who was blind!

No matter what, she had to have her daughter rope him in first, and then she could break up the lovely couple at her leisure!

Otherwise, how aggrieved would her daughter be?

Isabelle didn’t know her mother’s true intentions; she was overjoyed to hear her mother relent, and she threw herself into her mother’s arms.

Meanwhile, Mr. Martin looked suspiciously at his wife; hadn’t she been strongly opposed just a moment ago? How come he disagreed, yet she suddenly aligned with their daughter?

"Honey, calm down a bit. Isabelle is really too young for Dr. Foster, and with Dr. Foster’s achievements and experience, how could he be interested in such a young girl like Isabelle? Stop meddling blindly. I’ve noticed Julius’s son in the neighborhood is quite decent. His family is similar to ours, maybe you could let Isabelle try with their son," Mr. Martin said earnestly.

But as soon as he finished speaking, his wife glared at him fiercely, "Why wouldn’t they be interested in my daughter?"

"Honey, you’re being a bit unreasonable here. This isn’t about interest, it’s about suitability," Mr. Martin explained, feeling a bit aggrieved.

"Shut up, I know what I’m doing," Mrs. Martin scoffed.

Isabelle clung to her mother’s arm, making a face at her dad, "Mom’s right. How could any man in this world not be interested in her daughter? We can’t lose!" Then she turned and said flatteringly to her mother, "Mom, you’re the best. You have to teach me how to make Mr. Foster chase me. This time, I want to shine with pride!"

"Alright, Isabelle, listen to Mom..."

Thus, the scene originally intended for the Martin parents to prevent their daughter from going astray suddenly turned into Mrs. Martin’s live demonstration.

If such a lecture were to have a title, it might be "The Ringer" or "The Best Way to Chase a Man is to Make Him Chase You".

Isabelle listened with her eyes shining, while Mr. Martin and Kent Martin watched, dumbfounded, until Kent Martin couldn’t help but ask his dad, "Dad, back then, was it you who pursued Mom, or did Mom pursue you?"

"Of course, it was me who pursued your mom..." Mr. Martin replied without thinking, and then hesitated. He began to ponder how he actually came to be attracted to his wife, why he pursued her step by step, and the more he thought, the more he felt... he was outplayed!

Kent Martin looked at his father sympathetically and then began to feel sorry for the unseen Dr. Foster.

Seeing his mom like this, it seemed like she wasn’t acknowledging the other party. Perhaps she planned to let Isabelle chase him down only to break them up later?

"Ugh!" Mr. Martin sighed, seemingly thinking of the same issue.

Kent Martin couldn’t resist asking, "Dad, is this Dr. Foster really that amazing?"

"How could he not be amazing? He’s a genius-level figure. Although I dote on your sister, they really aren’t suitable. Your mom’s tactics aren’t going to work on Dr. Foster. What hasn’t he seen?" Mr. Martin came from an old-fashioned family and inherently revered doctors, especially Jeffrey Foster, a rare surgical master in the country.

It was the first time Kent Martin had seen his father praise someone so highly, and he couldn’t help but become curious about Jeffrey Foster.

Meanwhile, over on the sofa, after Mrs. Martin’s hour-long teaching session, she finally let her daughter go.

Isabelle laughed gleefully on the surface, but inwardly she breathed a huge sigh of relief. Why hadn’t she noticed her mom had potential to become a romance blogger before?

But those methods her mom mentioned, the more she listened, the more shameful they seemed. Seizing the chance with her mom tired out, she quickly fled back to her room.

However, what Isabelle didn’t expect was to find a message waiting on her phone from Jeffrey Foster once she returned to her room. It was brief, asking her if she was alright, but that was enough to make Isabelle leap for joy.

This was the first time Jeffrey Foster had ever sent her a message.

Especially since a blind person sending a message was inherently difficult; the fact he sent one meant he was genuinely concerned about her.

Forgetting her mother’s tactics about playing hard to get, Isabelle immediately called Jeffrey Foster.

On the other end, while explaining for Isabelle, Jeffrey Foster chose his words very carefully, making it impossible for anyone to discern ambiguity between them, and simultaneously clarifying the reason for Isabelle’s absence from home. Yet, hearing Mrs. Martin’s forcefulness over the phone made him unable to feel at ease. He paced his room several times before finally using his smartphone assistant to send Isabelle a message.

Despite sending the message, there was no response for an hour, leaving Jeffrey Foster’s heart tense, replaying in his mind Isabelle’s words, "Mom, don’t hit me."

Ultimately, he couldn’t calm his nerves, and he left the villa. Isabelle had mentioned her home’s location to him previously, and he listened to the GPS, though unfamiliar with the route, he stumbled quite a few times. When the GPS announced he had reached his destination, Jeffrey Foster’s mind cleared slightly. Why had he come to Isabelle’s house?

Momentarily stunned by his actions, Jeffrey Foster stood in place, unsure of what to do, and hurriedly turned around, intending to leave awkwardly. Unexpectedly, his phone rang at that moment.

It was Isabelle.

Trying desperately to calm his nerves to ensure his voice didn’t betray any oddity, Jeffrey Foster answered.

"Mr. Foster, did you send me a message?" Isabelle began in a cheerful tone, her words overflowing with unconcealable happiness.

Suddenly, Jeffrey Foster’s earlier discomfort vanished completely, as the girl’s voice at the other end felt like heavenly music capable of dispelling any earthly gloom.

He moistened his dry lips and softly answered, "Uh-huh," then quietly asked, "Your mother didn’t hit you, did she?"

After asking, Jeffrey Foster let out a heavy sigh, finally realizing what his anxiety throughout the evening was about.

"No, how could she? My parents spoil me the most. They were just trying to scare me," Isabelle replied light-heartedly, then intuitively asked, "You’re worried about me, aren’t you?"

"Uh-huh." Jeffrey Foster was momentarily surprised by Isabelle’s question but didn’t lie as he usually would; he softly acknowledged.

Isabelle thought she had misheard, so after a pause, she uncertainly asked, "Mr. Foster, did you say ’uh-huh’ just now?"

"Uh-huh," Jeffrey Foster, slightly awkward due to her persistent questioning, added another acknowledgment, then awkwardly explained, "I don’t want you to get hurt because of me."

"I’m really happy." Isabelle didn’t care about the reason behind Jeffrey Foster’s concern for her; as long as he was worried, that was enough for her.

Any frustration or grievance from her parents’ objections vanished in an instant, leaving her bubbly with excitement as she held her phone, "Mr. Foster, my mom isn’t against my liking you anymore. She even said she’d help me win you over and offered up loads of ridiculous ideas. Do you want to hear them?"

Jeffrey Foster chuckled, "If I heard them, how would you execute them?"

"Ugh, her ideas are too absurd; I wouldn’t dare use them," Isabelle smirked mischievously.

Jeffrey Foster, on the contrary, felt intrigued, "What ideas did she give you?"

"She wanted me to seduce you first, then have you fall for me and pursue me," Isabelle Martin summarized.

"Oh, you don’t need to learn that," Jeffrey Foster replied without thinking, and after realizing what he said, he covered it with a light cough.

But Isabelle heard it clearly. She was stunned for a moment, then laughed like a little fox, "Mr. Foster, do you think I was seducing you before? What should I do? I wasn’t doing it on purpose then. Maybe I should try my mom’s approach, though I’m not sure if Mr. Foster would be seduced."

Isabelle deliberately elongated her words, with a bit of coquettish mischief, like a cat’s tail teasing Jeffrey Foster’s heart, making him involuntarily recall those intimate encounters with her, and he couldn’t help but wonder how she would seduce him.

"Mr. Foster... Mr. Foster, what are you thinking about?" Isabelle softly called his name when she didn’t hear a response from him.

Jeffrey Foster snapped back to reality, realizing what he was thinking about, his ears getting warm. The night breeze didn’t cool him down but rather made his skin tingle, so he distractedly said he wasn’t thinking about anything and hung up the phone, afraid if this continued, the girl might make him say something inappropriate.

But Isabelle perked her ears up and asked curiously, "Mr. Foster, are you not inside the villa? Why can I hear the wind?"

"I... at the window." Jeffrey quickly lied.

Afterwards, his heart began to race. Even though he couldn’t see, he instinctively looked toward Isabelle’s house.

Isabelle knew Jeffrey Foster reasonably well, wondering why he would open a window in this cold weather. With that thought, she walked to her window and casually looked out, seeing a black figure under the street light. Her heart tightened suddenly with a bold idea.

But she quickly shook her head like a rattle, thinking there was no way that figure could be Jeffrey Foster, or anyone but him.

Though her mind thought so, her eyes remained fixed on that black figure, feeling increasingly familiar and her heartbeat starting to pick up. She tentatively asked, "Why are you opening the window so late? Don’t catch a cold."

"Hmm." Jeffrey Foster wasn’t good at lying to girls, so he didn’t explain much, just hummed softly, and slowly started to walk back.

Just as he took a step, Isabelle saw the blind cane in the man’s hand, and in an instant, her eyes filled with tears.

She was certain it was him.

He was more worried about her than she had imagined.

This thought made Isabelle’s hands tremble with excitement. She turned around, threw on a jacket, put on slippers, and carefully opened her door.

After the earlier family meeting, everyone had gone back to their rooms to rest. Isabelle quietly went downstairs but, upon opening the front door, sprinted towards the black figure under the streetlight.

Jeffrey Foster suddenly couldn’t hear the girl’s voice on the phone. Assuming she hung up, he didn’t think much and slowly started to walk back. Suddenly, he heard rapid footsteps behind him and wondered who would run around at night. The next moment, someone hugged him tightly around the waist.

The familiar breathing was heavy, indicating she had run hard. He stood stiffly, not moving, wondering for how long it took before her breathing gradually calmed.

"Jeffrey Foster!" Isabelle finally spoke but didn’t call him Mr. Foster; she called out his name directly.

Jeffrey Foster’s heart trembled slightly but he didn’t speak, just feeling the girl rubbing her head against his back. She muffled her voice and said, "You’re so annoying, saying you don’t like me and won’t let me like you, yet secretly coming to check on me. You’re just too annoying. Even if I didn’t want to like you, I couldn’t help it. Shouldn’t you take responsibility for me?"

"I... was just passing by." Jeffrey Foster didn’t expect to be caught red-handed and, after a long pause, came up with this excuse.

After saying it, he couldn’t help but want to cover his face.

And behind him, Isabelle laughed without giving him any face, "Mr. Foster, you look so cute being awkward."
