Chapter 1144
We talked about familiar contracts
“Walter gathered together the people who were interested. I did tell him that it will only be until you and Lady Claire arrive… Should I stop him now?”
“No, they seem to be enjoying themselves, so it’s fine. And Claire isn’t here yet.”
From what I could hear, it also seemed that Walter had listened to my advice, as well as the suggestions from others.
He was talking about fenrirs… It was based on some old story about an army who was going to burn down a forest in their path, but ended up being destroyed by a pack of fenrirs.
But he did tone it down, so that the fenrirs became friends with a human who had become lost in the forest. And thent the fenrirs protected the human from the villains who were chasing after him.
“Volgrau…is it? Ms. Lyra and the others told me about what happened.”
Said Sebastian, and Alfred nodded.
“It is very hard to believe that a master would do that to their own familiar…but I suppose such things do happen.”
“Indeed…”Alfred muttered as he watched Leo and the others in the garden.
They were all playing together so peacefully.
“Sebastian. Is it possible to cancel a contract between a master and fenrir?”
“A familiar contract. I am not an expert on it, but since it is done when both are in agreement, I doubt you can cancel it…”
“Well, it would be best to keep such a familiar far away from its master.”
“In the first place, the contract is made to be advantageous to the master. It prevents the familiar from ever doing the master any harm.”
“Yes.”
“No one knows why such contracts are even possible. Still, they both have to agree. And it is not possible to make a monster agree with just force. Regardless, it can be assumed that both would have to agree to cancel the contract as well.”
“So it is possible. As long as both agree.”
“However…will Volgrau’s master agree to such a thing? Besides, maybe Volgrau feels differently.”
“…Well, this wasn’t the first time it was hurt by its master. So perhaps there was an attachment…”
Even after being wounded so badly like this, Volgaur had not expressed any hatred against its master.
It just spoke of what happened as if it was plain fact…though its voice had certainly sounded sad.
Now that I thought about it, perhaps Volgrau could not do well during its training, because the contract forbade it from hurting its master?
Well, if this person could make a wolf its familiar, then they must be very capable.
“It might be…difficult.”
Perhaps the master could be captured and made to agree to let the wolf go.
Claire had that kind of authority, since she was the daughter of a duke. Even if she didn’t like to use that authority.
As for Volgrau… Well, it would surely do whatever Leo said…
However, I did not want to make it do anything that it did not want to do.
“…There is also one other way.”
As Alfred and I thought about it with serious expressions, Sebastian muttered as if suddenly remembering something.
