Mysterious Journey

Chapter 1288 Horn of the Storm (Part 1)

Every Monday morning is the busiest time for owl messengers.

Obviously, Dolores Umbridge wasn't the only one in the Great Hall who subscribed to the *Daily Prophet*.

Almost everyone was eager to know the latest news, even though many hadn't previously made a habit of reading the newspaper. The *Daily Prophet* would publish the latest changes in the approval ratings for the "Acting Headmaster of Hogwarts" candidates.

Everyone wanted to know which of the two "Acting Headmaster Candidates" would have the upper hand in the new week.

Hermione walked to the edge of the "no-fly zone" where Aileenna was, and collected various newspapers and magazines from the owl postmen.

Meanwhile, Aileenna leisurely sipped her orange juice, enjoying the fascinating show on the staff table.

"Outrageous, mad, this fellow is mad—lawless—"

Umbridge's voice trembled slightly as she looked at the wizard on the front cover of the newspaper with a gloomy expression.

The Minister of Magic's impeachment process was not so easy to initiate, which meant that at least a quarter of the Wizengamot members had defected.

What she found even more unbelievable was the slogan that Gilderoy Lockhart had proposed in the newspaper:

An idealized civilized world—wizards, Muggles, half-bloods, outliers, and even all intelligent beings that can be considered "human" living in equality and harmony. Any discrimination, inequality, behaviors and regulations—all of these were the objects of Lockhart's frantic attacks.

In fact, Lockhart even crazily quoted Grindelwald's words from back then: "For the Greater Good."

However, he added an explanation after this sentence, "To fight for all that is good in the world."

These explosive remarks were obviously what reporters and all sectors of society loved to see.

Especially after Lockhart successfully initiated the impeachment and also declared in a high profile that he intended to run for the next Minister of Magic.

"What on earth is going on? Have those Wizengamot fellows gone mad..."

Umbridge impatiently opened the newspaper, intending to figure out what was happening outside.

Whether it was the impeachment of the Minister of Magic or Lockhart's crazy remarks, when they were printed in the newspaper, it meant that something serious was happening.

Just then, another owl landed in front of her, holding a brown envelope.

"Another letter—"

Umbridge raised her head and glanced at the recipient's name and address.

[Hogwarts School]

[The Great Hall]

[Dolores Umbridge]

Why would someone send her a letter at this time?

She frowned and raised her hand to take the envelope, but then three, four, five more owls flapped their wings and landed beside her.

Six owls jostled on the table, stepping in butter, knocking over the salt shaker, all wanting to be the first to give her the letter.

Before Umbridge could figure out what was happening, seven more owls landed in the middle of the first batch.

They screamed, flapped their wings, and everyone at the entire staff table stretched their necks to look over.

"Professor Umbridge," Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow with a smile that wasn't quite a smile, and casually handed over a newly opened magazine, "it seems you're in trouble."

Umbridge rudely took the magazine—it was the latest monthly issue of *The Quibbler*.

She unfolded it and saw a clumsy cartoon drawn on the cover.

A fat witch in a pink coat, with a black bow on her forehead, and a group of wizards kneeling on the ground begging for mercy at her feet.

Above the cartoon was a line of blood-red text:

[Who did the Ministry of Magic Arrest:]

[Werewolves? Or pathetic fellows on the fringes of society?]

"Quite terrifying, isn't it?"

Professor McGonagall stood up, patted Umbridge on the shoulder, and said solemnly.

"The content was just printed yesterday, and there are on-site photos and introductions inside. It seems your previous werewolf suppression operation—is somewhat controversial?"

She raised her finger and pointed to the owls that were still bumping into each other in front of Umbridge.

"Ahem, my personal suggestion is that you'd better take the envelopes first. After all, the other teachers still need to eat breakfast. If this continues, the staff table may be full of owls delivering letters to you... Perhaps, you can also go outside the Great Hall to receive the letters?"

"This is impossible, slander, vile defamation—"

Umbridge trembled all over, ignoring the owls, and quickly opened *The Quibbler*.

Unlike other magazines, the first few pages of this issue of *The Quibbler* were all black and white magical photos.

Photos of Ministry of Magic Aurors attacking werewolf villages, photos of arresting suspicious people...

These were not fatal things.

What was truly terrifying was that a detailed and chilling roster was attached to the back of those photos.

The roster detailed the list of people arrested in the "werewolf village purge" operation led by her last time, as well as each person's name and brief resume—this was something even the Ministry of Magic did not have, the Aurors never kept statistics of the werewolves' names.

And...

The time each of them transformed into werewolves...

On the roster, a large pile of names of those who transformed into werewolves after being arrested by the Ministry of Magic were framed with bright red lines.

And—

"I am very ashamed that I remained silent at the time, this is a disgrace."

Behind all the rosters, another special column was published, the cover picture was the face of a middle-aged wizard like an old lion.

Below this nonsensical introduction was a line of unadorned bold title.
