Mysterious Journey

Chapter 841: An Ominous Premonition from Hermione

Even with the new curriculum standards being implemented, the lower grades at Hogwarts could still enjoy their weekends for the time being.

Unlike the older students who had to attend classes on Saturdays due to the addition of elective courses, the first and second years could comfortably relax in the library, common room, or under the shade of the trees by the lake, watching the occasional surfacing of the giant squid and the Care of Magical Creatures class taking place in the distant forest clearing.

Of course, except for Erina Kaslana.

Due to publicly cooking "White Pufferfish Soup" in Potions class, she was given detention by Horace Slughorn and had to reflect in the Potions Professor's office on Saturday afternoon...which meant her first weekend of school was ruined.

"...Eh, first detention ever..."

Those bad wizards hidden in Hogwarts, such as Tom Riddle and Dolores Umbridge, perhaps developed their regrettable personalities because they had not experienced a complete Hogwarts life.

As for Erina, she clearly did not belong to the type of wizard lacking love, responsibility, and justice.

Just like the trio of Harry Potter in the original story, even if they received detention, copied lines, and lost points every semester, whether it was blowing up cauldrons, stealing things, or burning robes... everyone knew that they were good and righteous wizards.

Saying goodbye to Quirinus Quirrell and finishing the inspection of her "territory," Erina consoled herself in this way as she slowly returned to the entrance of Hogwarts Castle.

Unsurprisingly, the other little fledglings were already waiting there.

Given the mixed population of the Academy City and the number of secrets involved, no student except Erina could leave the Hogwarts gates and go to the areas where the researchers were located – Hogwarts professors, house-elves, and even researchers from the former Soviet Union were responsible for enforcing this ban.

"So, what exactly is outside the school?"

Hannah Abbott asked curiously, standing on tiptoe and peering behind Erina.

"Luna said you received a Niffler. I've only seen them in books, never a live one! I heard there's also a delicate little nest and lots of small toys. Erina, do you have a new pet?"

"Oh, that...it's a large black hamster, the kind that Muggles like to keep."

Erina answered without thinking, the little ahoge on her head utterly sincere. "Hogwarts isn't suitable for it to live in, so I sent it outside the school. When I left, it was happily running around in its cage!"

"As for outside the school... well, it's not a secret anyway, so I'll tell you a little bit in advance."

Erina paused slightly, looked around warily, and whispered mysteriously.

"Well, most of them are 'preparatory' professors whose courses haven't met the standards yet. They are currently re-adjusting their lesson plans and preparing for a new round of Hogwarts' assessments. If they pass the assessment, the school will consider adding corresponding subjects, such as the biochemistry, physics, and geography you encountered last year... If you're interested, I can..."

"Not interested! I'm not interested at all! Erina, don't say such terrible things on the weekend!"

Hannah shook her head quickly in rejection, as if recalling something extremely terrible.

Although those awkward, strange "introductory biology knowledge" helped her quickly master Runes.

But if Hannah Abbott had a choice, she would rather fall asleep in a warm, soft bed than be awakened at a cold, hard library table – what ATP, what phosphate, too scary.

Hermione Granger, on the other hand, frowned slightly, deep in thought.

Judging from the white-haired ball's ahoge's reaction, this was at least a "superficially" true description.

In other words, those living outside the school were indeed "reserve professors." Since wizards capable of teaching this knowledge could not be found in the magical world, the true identities of these "professors" were self-evident.

On a large scale... introducing non-magical scholars into Hogwarts, this magical school?

A faint sense of unease flashed in Hermione Granger's heart.

However, she didn't know where this inexplicable unease came from.

From the current situation, whether it was Dumbledore, the Ministry of Magic, or the Board of Governors... almost every symbol representing the authority of the magical world was involved in this educational reform project without exception. Moreover, behind this, there was also the full cooperation of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, which almost gathered all the power and voices of the magical world.

But... Hermione's gaze swept across Luna's face, who looked as usual.

This witch, the most perceptive among them, didn't show any unease.

But for some reason, Hermione felt even more unsure. She had a clear sense that she seemed to have caught the tail of something dangerous – something that Erina, or even Dumbledore, might be overlooking...

"Huh, Hermione, why do you look so gloomy too?"

Hannah turned her head and looked at Hermione with a strange cry, as if she was seeing this "know-it-all" miss for the first time.

"This isn't like you. Weren't you complaining yesterday that the courses were too simple and hoping for more new content?"

In Hannah's impression, unlike them ordinary "mortals," when faced with those dauntingly profound knowledge, Hermione's vigorous thirst for knowledge was almost like the flames of a phoenix, never extinguished.

You should know that even Erina sometimes showed impatience, but Hermione never did.

Hermione Granger suppressed the worry on her face, shook her head, and said softly.

"It's not because of that. I just suddenly have a bad feeling, but I can't say why. Anyway, let's take this white-haired ball to detention first. Horace Slughorn is probably already in his office."

"Eh?! A bad feeling?"

Erina raised her eyebrows in surprise and grimaced strangely.

Hermione Granger nodded seriously.

"Yes, Erina, I suggest you have Professor Dumbledore review it again. Also, you'd better stay in the office obediently during detention later, don't... you know... I feel like something's not right."

"...Okay, okay, I've always been a good and obedient girl."

Erina nodded helplessly, saying perfunctorily.

If Luna Lovegood said so, she might consider it a little.

But in Erina's impression, this Hermione "Calculation Machine" Granger's talent in "heavenly vision" has always been quite weak. It was too strange to hear the phrase "I have a bad feeling" from Hermione.

Moreover, unlike those shady "Dark Lord power expansions" before.

This time, the new curriculum standards plan is a legitimate magical education reform recognized by all sectors.

Professor Horace Slughorn's plan and roster have already been arranged. There is not much need to stop at this time. Besides some cooperation, Erina does not intend to let this old professor see too much core content.

"Don't worry, I will admit my mistakes in the office and won't mess around..."

A moment later, standing in front of Professor Horace Slughorn's office door, Erina affectionately pinched Hermione's nose and said with a smile. Then, she pushed open the office door and walked into the warm room with the flickering fireplace.

However, after the door was closed again.

Erina raised her head, looked at the two old wizards sitting by the fireplace, and said the first sentence:

"I'm very sorry, Erina Kaslana may not be able to appear in today's office..."
