Mysterious Journey

Chapter 729 Long Time No See

Romon Losoff slowly walked down the stairs.

In the living room, his favorite old log sofa had been put away, leaving only a layer of dust. The utensils and knives on the kitchen counter were all packed into a trunk in the middle of the living room that had been expanded with an Undetectable Extension Charm.

Not far away, several wizards from Mysterious Journey were inspecting the fireplace.

His daughter, Lovia, was leaning by the window, tilting her head and whispering something to her husband.

Lovia rested one hand on the windowsill, and the other gently on her slightly bulging abdomen – if all went well, in just three or four months, a lovely little life would join this family.

Looking at the happy expression on his daughter's face, Romon Losoff seemed to see his wife's figure again in a daze.

"Dad, we're all packed, just waiting for you."

Lovia frowned slightly, looking puzzled at the old man's empty hands.

"Where's your luggage? Didn't you say you were going to get something from the bedroom? Why..."

The old man did not answer his daughter's question, but raised his head and looked around the empty living room, his gaze sweeping over the wizards in dark uniform trench coats, and finally landing on the wrinkled, energetic old wizard.

Besides Kurt Meyer, the other five young people looked young, perhaps even younger than Lovia.

However, judging from their subconsciously maintained tactical positions and neat, unified movements, even the most elite Magical Law Enforcement Squad of the Russian Ministry of Magic might not be able to suppress these young people in equal numbers.

"Excuse me..."

Noticing Romon Losoff's gaze, Kurt Meyer raised his eyebrows.

"Do you have any questions about the upcoming short trip, sir?"

"Short trip? Oh, yes, you are good at finding nice words..."

Romon Losoff muttered in a low voice, snorting.

"Not me—"

Kurt Meyer grinned and shook his head, walking to the window and looking outside.

"This is the young lady's definition – for you and your family, you only need to take the vehicle we have prepared and meet the Sumarokovs and Lermontovs at the safe house, and then board the ship on time."

"What about you? That's Polyjuice Potion...right?"

Romon Losoff glanced at the tin pot on Kurt Meyer's waist, squinting.

"This is the foolproof plan you mentioned earlier? It's a little different from what I imagined..."

As a potions master, he could still smell that familiar scent in the air, even from so far away.

You know, during the First Wizarding War, the large-scale use of Polyjuice Potion for infiltration left a very deep impression on both sides. For a wizard, collecting a few hairs is extremely easy.

"That's right, we'll temporarily turn into your appearance after you leave."

Kurt Meyer nodded readily, with no embarrassment or panic on his face.

"As we said before, 'you' will act as bait, firmly attracting all forces on this land that might prevent your smooth evacuation. In ten minutes or so, the 'Sumarokovs' and 'Lermontovs' will also arrive here through the Floo Network closely monitored by the Russian Ministry of Magic to attend tonight's barbecue party."

Kurt Meyer gave a thumbs up and gestured towards the lawn outside the window behind him, explaining with a relaxed expression.

"—Look, we've even set up the barbecue grill, just waiting for it to get dark."

In the past month, Gringotts Wizarding Bank has been conducting capital regulation in a high-profile manner, selecting some wizarding families willing to act as 'bait' to handle magical assets and exchange currency, creating traces that they might be about to flee.

People always deeply believe in what they have deduced, which is a common problem for all intelligent people.

And when they pay a certain price for it, it will affect this subjective judgment tenfold or a hundredfold. American goblins, American wizards, the International Confederation of Wizards, the Russian Ministry of Magic... The entanglement of interests on this land is too complex. Any small oversight is likely to trigger unimaginable chain reactions, ultimately leading to the exposure of the entire plan.

Because of this, Elena chose to actively detonate multiple "truths" to increase the stability of the evacuation plan.

"So, so... you plan to sacrifice yourselves to cover our retreat?!"

Romon Losoff frowned, as if he had been stabbed sharply.

"Rest assured, we are professionals. We have complete response plans for the subsequent actions."

Kurt Meyer waved his hand nonchalantly, tapping the watch on his wrist.

"Anyway, time is running out... I suggest you get in the car as soon as possible. Judging by the time, the chaos in Moscow should be almost over, and Ministry officials or someone else could appear in this area at any time."

"Okay, I understand – wait a few minutes."

Romon Losoff took a deep breath and walked to his daughter, saying calmly.

"Lovia, lend me your wand again. I'll pack a little bit of luggage, and I'll be right back."

"Eh? Actually, I can help you..."

Lovia blinked, saying somewhat puzzled.

"I am a wizard! Lovia! I haven't lost my magical abilities!"

Romon Losoff frowned and snorted slightly unhappily, repeating.

"Wand..."

"Um, okay, okay, take it."

Lovia sighed helplessly, looking at her stubborn father. Ever since his wand was confiscated by the Ministry of Magic, he had always been a bit emotional about such things.

At the same time, the wizards standing by the fireplace stopped their movements and looked at the father and daughter.

A young wizard moved his lips slightly, making a sound like a mosquito's buzz.

"Mr. Meyer, we..."

"Shh – quiet—"

Kurt Meyer raised a finger to his lips, a strange look flashing in his eyes.

"Fig wood, thirteen and a quarter inches, unicorn hair core, a spitting image of your mother."

Not far away, Romon Losoff stroked Lovia's wand, saying softly.

"You know, Lovia, you really look like your mother when she was young. Of course, your personality is very much like mine, stubborn, willful. Remember to be more mature when you become a mother."

"You've said that many times, Dad – I know, but Mom's was shorter."

Lovia sighed helplessly, "Okay, now is not the time to reminisce about the past, we should go!"

"No, it's you. Not me—"

Romon Losoff smiled and shook his head, looking tenderly at the daughter who was about to become a mother.

"Lov, I remember I promised you before that I wouldn't lie anymore. I'm sorry, I broke my promise again."

"Wh—"

"Stupefy!"

Before Lovia could react, Romon Losoff pointed the wand in his hand gently.

A dazzling red light silently entered her chest. Lovia's body fell limply as if it had lost its strength, and she was caught steadily by the already prepared old man, who carefully placed her in the arms of her stunned son-in-law.

"Andrei! Lovia, and my granddaughter, I'm counting on you from now on – take good care of them."

"B-but...Dad..."

The young Andrei looked at his wife in his arms, whose face still held disbelief, and said in a loss.

"Listen! I can't go with you!"

Romon Losoff raised his wand and pointed it calmly at the naive Andrei.

"Swear to me now that you will take care of and protect them at all costs, and then disappear from my sight like a man, cleanly and efficiently – or are you going to try and see if you can pull out your wand before my spell hits you?"

"Father, this..." A struggle appeared on Andrei's face.

"Mr. Andrei, time is running out, it's time to leave."

Kurt Meyer tapped Andrei's shoulder with his wand, reminding him with a smile that was not a smile.

"As for this side, leave it to this old man, I promise to send your father-in-law back safely. If you and your wife are both unconscious... well, it doesn't seem like a big deal."

"But—"

Andrei swallowed, looking at the suddenly unfamiliar father-in-law in front of him, and the old wizard behind him who faintly exuded a dangerous aura, and then at his wife in his arms, he did not continue to argue, and nodded silently.

"Then, I'll leave the rest to you."

"Oh," Kurt said easily, "Don't worry, and remember to take your wife's wand."

As Kurt Meyer spoke, he took out a long black paper box from his arms and casually threw it to Romon Losoff not far away, waving his hand indifferently, and grinning with a mischievous smile.

"I spent twelve Galleons, bought it at a high price from a Russian official, you can use it first."

"Hey, you guys are really... resourceful."

Romon Losoff glanced at the name tag on the paper box and shook his head with emotion.

Undoubtedly, the energy and penetration of this group of Mysterious Journey wizards far exceeded his imagination – or, to put it another way, the speed of the Russian magical world's decline far exceeded his expectations.

You know, a few years ago, these were still contraband under the highest level of custody and seizure.

As Andrei and Lovia's figures disappeared into the living room.

Romon Losoff heard their heavy footsteps gradually disappearing on the gravel path outside, followed by the sound of the car door closing with a bang, and the harsh roar of the car engine starting.

Now, only he, Kurt Meyer, and two other Mysterious Journey wizards were left in the room.

"Long time no see, Kurt Meyer—"

Romon Losoff raised his head, took a deep look at the old wizard not far away, turned the wand in his hand in his palm, and pointed it at the old wizard's chest.

"You, are you ready for your last words?"
