Mysterious Journey
Chapter 559: Never Ending
At the same moment, within the new shop located at the entrance of Knockturn Alley.
Goblins Douglas and Boggo gathered once again. Since leaving Gringotts Wizarding Bank, they had been working as investment advisors for the Destiny Group, each traveling to various locations in the former Soviet Union and the United Kingdom, with their respective tasks.
For instance, Douglas, who had previously served as the head of the venture capital department, was directly entrusted with a significant responsibility by Eileen after a brief evaluation. He was tasked with coordinating risk hedging efforts in the former Soviet Union region, aiming to squeeze the financial battlefield available to foreign capital and local oligarchs, driving capital into the same areas for fierce competition.
After a period of effort, the former Soviet financial market had been thoroughly stirred into murky waters. The substantial amount of foreign exchange obtained from Gringotts by mortgaging the Slytherin family's land deeds had been largely invested in purchasing various light industrial production plants, core commercial streets, and prime residential areas in the former Soviet Union.
Subsequently, this capital, transformed into tangible assets, was leveraged through a swarm of foreign banks, converting it into several times the cash flow that poured back into the market, irrationally inflating the value of various securities and real estate, forming a powerful and attractive vortex. Any entity hoping to get a share of the pie had to invest more than originally intended, competing with rivals for that limited portion of the chips.
With Eileen and the Destiny Group's reckless early start, the phenomenon of various speculative funds scrambling for "bear meat," which was originally expected to occur in the mid-to-late stages of the "Ruble Crisis," was played out five or six years earlier in this land.
However, what everyone failed to notice was that the hidden hand that had personally pushed trillions of capital into the arena had quietly ceased all operations as the tide surged. Apart from tightly guarding a few backward light industrial workshops and commercial outposts in various cities, there were no further actions.
It wasn't that Eileen was unwilling to stir the waters further; she naturally knew the profits involved better than anyone else...
However, in order to entice those suspicious sharks roaming the market to actively plunge into this vortex, there had to be a scent of blood and sufficiently tempting bait. To attract speculative funds into the game, Hogwarts' cash reserves of several billion dollars' worth had been almost entirely depleted.
The most direct effect was that all foreign capital, including Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the Federal Reserve, and American goblins, was firmly chained to that financial meat grinder, mixed with speculative funds from all over the world.
From now until the day the Ruble completely collapses, any entity that exits prematurely will become fuel and the ultimate reward for those survivors who remain in the arena. Gringotts Wizarding Bank, relying on the fragile economic system of the magical world, is like a bowstring stretched to its limit, continuously injecting new currency into the Far East to maintain profits.
After analysis by Eileen, Douglas, Boggo… and a large group of goblins, coupled with model assistance from several fully controllable former Soviet mathematicians, the Ruble bubble was estimated to reach its peak in approximately three months to two years.
Therefore, if the worst-case scenario according to Murphy's Law were to occur, Eileen didn't have much time left.
To ensure she could completely take over Gringotts Wizarding Bank before the Ruble crashed, she even recalled all the goblins stationed in various offices in the former Soviet Union, as well as most of Destiny's elite wizards, to complete this plan.
Naturally, the Gringotts Venture Capital Department gathered together once again.
However, this time they were not there to continue the Gringotts era, but to knock it down from the sky and into the dust.
"Boggo, how have you been lately?"
"Just losing money as much as possible, what problems could there be? On the contrary, I'm still a little uneasy about Miss Kaslana's new plan... Mr. Douglas, we're opening a Pandora's Box!"
"Devils? Perhaps. But, my dear Boggo, don't forget..."
Douglas glanced at his deputy beside him, unmoved as he clipped the end of his cigar. He expertly lit it with magical sparks and took a deep, blissful puff, blowing a perfect white smoke ring into the air.
"Aren't our responsibilities to better serve that devil? Besides, this is such a wonderful money magic, simple, fast, ruthless, yet full of that cold, bloodthirsty beauty unique to currency and wealth."
"Eileen's Pyramid, ha, such terrifying humans. I finally understand why Elder Leo was willing to sacrifice himself, even the entire Gringotts, to put us under that girl's command. Don't you still naively think that without us goblins, this butcher knife wouldn't fall on Gringotts' head?"
"But everything hasn't started yet, and the outcome is unknown," Boggo shook his head, rebutting weakly.
"Who told you the outcome is unknown?"
Douglas grinned, picked up the execution plan next to him and tapped it, his eyes filled with a cold light.
"Most things in this world have a determined outcome from the very first step. Everything that follows is just a product that extends from that predetermined trajectory. Think carefully, what would an ordinary wizard do when faced with such a tempting and treacherous delicious candy?"
"Each flyer comes with a free bronze Knut, meaning the cost of trying is zero."
The former goblin director tapped lightly on two coins with his fingernails, making a pleasant tinkling sound, and said softly.
"When wizards get their first rebate with a try-it-and-see attitude, it's actually the second time they've built trust. Do you think they'll happily take the two bronze Knuts and leave, or continue with the second round of investment? Not to mention, if they see some cases of successful gambling around them..."
"But... according to Miss Kaslana's regulations, each wizard has a limited number of investments, only three times."
The goblin Boggo also picked up that brochure and looked at it carefully, asking with confusion.
"That's right, the number of investments for each wizard is limited, and limited opportunities make it seem valuable."
Facing his former subordinate's question, Douglas narrowed his eyes, his sharp fingernails thoughtfully stroking the parchment, giving Boggo a meaningful glance, and slowly replied.
"Unfortunately... greed is endless!"
