Mysterious Journey

Chapter 24: A Lifetime Meal Ticket

Not long after, the children in the orphanage woke up one after another. After a simple wash-up as usual, they obediently came to the dining room to wait for breakfast.

Having been baptized by various "accidental surprises" from Erina over the years, the children showed a high degree of acceptance towards the luxurious breakfast that was obviously beyond normal standards.

After all, after experiencing something like a whole fish feast breakfast that could almost feed fifty adult men, many things were no longer so shocking.

After Benítez briefly introduced that this breakfast was sponsored by the generous Professor Dumbledore, the children's curiosity instantly turned to the food.

"Ahem."

Erina stood up, put her hands on the table, stood on tiptoe, cleared her throat, looked around, and softly guided the children to thank Dumbledore.

"Before we start eating, everyone should first thank Professor Dumbledore, who is sitting next to me, because of his generous sponsorship, we have this rich breakfast today."

Facing a group of children under the age of ten, with their childish and messy, but earnest, thank-you voices, Dumbledore smiled slightly, ready to speak.

"Not just today's meal."

Just then, the crisp voice of the silver-haired little loli rang in Dumbledore's ear.

"Professor Dumbledore has promised that he will provide free breakfasts for the orphanage from now on."

???

The old man's silver-white long beard twitched, and the smile on his face stiffened slightly. He looked at Erina next to him in confusion.

"Really?!"

"Wow, that's great, long live Sister Erina."

"Can we eat these every day from now on?"

Before Dumbledore could refute, it was as if a ladle of cold water had been poured directly into boiling oil, and the children instantly exploded.

"Eh? No..."

Dumbledore, who was completely unprepared, showed a rare hint of confusion, trying hard to sort out the logic clearly.

"Professor Dumbledore, if you feel embarrassed, of course, I will continue to prepare breakfast for everyone in the future, but in that case..."

Erina tugged at Dumbledore's sleeve with her left hand, intentionally or unintentionally showing the back of her hand to Dumbledore, and said softly.

"...Just this once? Then focus on school."

Dumbledore did not directly refuse or agree, but raised his eyebrows, looked into Erina's eyes, and asked softly.

For Hogwarts, the extra burden of supplying breakfast to a small orphanage with less than ten people is not a big problem. After all, both are located in the Scottish Highlands, and the actual distance is not too far.

If he could use this to completely block this restless little girl's other requests, Dumbledore thought it would be quite worthwhile.

"Just this once."

Seeing that Dumbledore meant to give in, Erina nodded vigorously, her big eyes blinked quickly up and down, shaking Dumbledore's sleeves, and acting spoiled in a sweet and waxy tone.

"If you can include lunch and dinner. I promise to go to school obediently in the future and not make any other requests. Please~"

If she hadn't been reminded of it today, she would have almost forgotten that after she went to Hogwarts, the responsibility of the orphanage's three meals a day would once again fall on Benítez's shoulders.

If the orphanage could freeload off Hogwarts' meals like today in terms of daily diet, then the pressure on Benítez would be much less.

At least Benítez wouldn't have to secretly fight black boxing or do some more dangerous things to raise funds in the future.

This can be regarded as the last patch she made for the orphanage.

"..."

Dumbledore didn't speak, his blue eyes quietly looking at the half-Veela, as if trying to see through what her true thoughts were.

"If it really doesn't work, I will pay Hogwarts for the orphanage's food costs in the future."

After Erina looked up at Dumbledore for a while, she finally retreated and took a step back on her own initiative.

A smile appeared on the corner of Dumbledore's mouth, his eyes circled around the hopeful and joyful gazes, and he nodded slightly, answering in a clear tone.

"That's right. And, not just breakfast, from today onwards, we will provide everyone with three meals a day."

"Okay, it's a deal. We won't discuss this matter anymore."

After receiving Dumbledore's affirmative answer, the silver-haired little loli hurriedly confirmed it and quickly announced the end of the topic.

Then Erina's face straightened, she clapped her hands vigorously, and looked at the children gathered around the two of them.

"Okay, okay, that's enough thanking. Everyone hurry back to their seats and have a good meal."

"Oh—"

A series of sounds of wooden chairs rubbing against the ground, and the crisp clanging of knives, forks and plates were heard in the dining room.

Most of the children obediently followed Erina's command and returned to their seats, starting to eat.

But Bran, who usually listened to Erina the most, stood there rarely at this moment, looking a little cramped at Erina who had already started eating, bit his lip, and plucked up the courage to ask suddenly.

"Sister Erina, are you going to abandon us? Will you not make fried eggs for us in the future? Then I won't eat this..."

Unlike most of the children who were tempted by the rich breakfast, Bran suddenly felt that Erina was about to leave after hearing the words of the suddenly appeared old man.

With Bran's voice, the entire dining room suddenly fell silent, and all the children stopped what they were doing and looked up at Erina.

"I..."

"Don't worry, Sister Erina is just going to a boarding school next door. She will come back to see everyone during festivals and holidays."

In Dumbledore's hesitant eyes, Benítez, who was sitting next to him, reached out and gently touched Erina's head, explaining to the other children with a smile.

"Is it because you opened that letter?"

Bran, the orphanage's number one curious baby, continued to ask.

"Eh? What letter."

Erina tilted her head in confusion, casually forked a piece of grilled herring and stuffed it into her mouth, asking vaguely.

"Didn't you say that before you opened that envelope, we could drink Scottish Round-Faced Plump Chicken Soup every day?"

Pfft! Cough cough cough...

Hearing Bran's question, Erina suddenly coughed violently, glancing at Dumbledore next to her with some embarrassment.

The silver-haired little loli's face flushed slightly, she looked around, grabbed a piece of buttered toast and stuffed it into little Bran's mouth.

"Okay! Focus on eating, no talking!"

"Haha, Bran, you're so stupid."

The slightly older child next to him patted Bran on the shoulder gloatingly, correcting with a look of disdain.

"Didn't Sister Erina say before that those plump chickens flew over from a chicken farm called Hogwarts? What does it have to do with the letter?"

Erina's face became even more embarrassed. She picked up a spoon and knocked on the forehead of the big child next to Bran.

"You're the smart one, eat breakfast quietly! If you talk again, today's homework will be doubled."

After all, she had just extorted a long-term meal ticket for the orphanage from Dumbledore, so it was indeed a bit inappropriate to say this at this time.

Scottish Round-Faced Plump Chicken? Will it keep coming if you don't open the letter? Hogwarts Chicken Farm?

Dumbledore turned his head and glanced at the silver-haired little loli with a strong reaction, revealing a strange look on his face - it seemed that this half-Veela had specially studied it in order to eat the school's owls.

"Cough cough cough, Professor Dumbledore, I'm done eating, I'll go change my clothes first. Let's set off directly!"

Erina swallowed the food in her mouth in one breath, put down the knife and fork, smiled embarrassedly yet politely, and quickly slipped from the dining table to her room.
