Mysterious Journey

Chapter 14: The Hunt Begins

Hogwarts Headmaster's Office.

Phoenixes are gentle creatures, and their songs can enhance the courage of those with pure hearts. Therefore, those who see a phoenix are undoubtedly pure children favored by fate, or at least that's what Aliena thought at this moment.

"Hello, Fawkes, I'm Aliena Kaslana."

*Gulp*

The silver-haired Veela swallowed nervously, bowing slightly and somewhat reservedly towards the phoenix perched on its stand, indicating that she meant no harm – although she wasn't sure if this etiquette for Hippogriffs was equally effective for phoenixes.

Fawkes, the phoenix, blinked its bright eyes, looking at Aliena with confusion, and didn't respond for a long time.

Just as Aliena felt her face beginning to stiffen from smiling, Fawkes suddenly bent its beautiful neck covered in red feathers and bowed meticulously.

"Phew… Thank you, Hagrid, and thank you, Mr. Scamander, for your outstanding contributions to helping people understand magical creatures."

Aliena breathed a sigh of relief, slowly walked over, and cautiously reached out to stroke the phoenix's golden-red feathers. She could clearly feel the warm and fleshy solid wings beneath its soft plumage.

The phoenix let out a melodious call, lazily closing its eyes, as if it enjoyed Aliena's gentle stroking.

In fact, wizards have long speculated about a possible mysterious connection between phoenixes and Veelas, because when pure Veelas are enraged, they can transform into bird-like creatures and attack by throwing fireballs.

"So warm…"

Seeing the golden-red bird relax and close its eyes, Aliena quietly placed her other hand on the other side of the phoenix's body, happily nuzzling her small face against the smooth feathers.

Unlike the somewhat smelly Scottish plump chicken, the phoenix feathers smelled like the scent of sunshine on sun-dried sheets in summer.

Aliena hugged Fawkes' back with both arms, sniffing with her petite nose, and subconsciously muttered in a low voice, "Such big wings must be delicious…"

Fawkes, who was dozing, suddenly opened its eyes, looked down at the silver-haired little girl lying on its back, and a hint of human-like doubt flashed in its large eyes.

The next moment, the adorable Aliena licked her lips, closed her eyes, and suddenly opened her mouth towards its wing with a happy expression – *Chomp*~

?!

?!

A loud cry suddenly echoed in the quiet Headmaster's office.

Before Aliena could bite down, the phoenix, feeling threatened, unhesitatingly spread its wings and pushed the silver-haired loli lying on its back away with force.

*Thud.*

Immediately afterward, a soft sound was heard in the air, and the original…

"Hey? Dumbledore specifically promised me that I could eat you."

Aliena smacked her lips with a face full of regret, turned around, looked at Fawkes, and spread out her hands, earnestly explaining, "Besides, you're a phoenix, I'm just curious to take a bite and taste it, no malice."

Hearing Aliena's words, Fawkes let out another angry cry, its fiery red wings spread out, staring fixedly at the dangerous creature in front of it as if facing a formidable enemy.

As the conflict between the person and the bird broke out, the portraits of previous Hogwarts headmasters, who had been resting with their eyes closed, woke up one after another, watching with interest the confrontation taking place in the headmaster's office.

"In all my years, this is the first time I've seen a student actually try to bite a phoenix." A fat wizard with a red nose crossed his arms, curiously sizing up the empty-handed Aliena.

"Which house are you from? Slytherin or Gryffindor? I suppose only people from these two houses would be so daring. Raise your wand, little girl, fight like a wizard."

"I'm sorry, neither. Headmaster Dexter Fortescue. I won't know which house I belong to until after the Sorting Ceremony in a month. Therefore, I don't have my own wand yet."

Aliena raised her head, glanced at the nameplate under the portrait, shook her head, and replied respectfully.

She had some impression of this grumpy "portrait headmaster" who often appeared in movies and novels. Although she wasn't sure how much wisdom the wizard existing as a portrait retained, it was always good to be respectful.

"Perhaps, she doesn't understand what a phoenix is at all? Muggle-born wizards always make such jokes because of ignorance."

Just then, a snicker came from the side, and a slightly plump, curly-haired wizard glanced at Aliena, saying with an arrogant expression.

—Phineas Nigellus Black, the most unpopular headmaster in Hogwarts history. It was easy to tell from Aliena's attire that she came from the non-magical world.

"In fact, I may not know less than you."

Aliena raised an eyebrow. She wouldn't get angry because of what a portrait said, especially since she had long heard about this stubborn old wizard's bad temper. The silver-haired loli shrugged indifferently.

"By the way, to correct you, I'm not a Muggle. Your 'Always Pure' Black family's bloodline may not be more superior than mine."

"A bloodline more pure than the most ancient and noble Black family? Impossible! I have never heard of a family named Kaslana among the Sacred Twenty-Eight families in the wizarding world."

Phineas said with disdain. Although he was slightly surprised that Aliena accurately stated the motto on their Black family crest, it didn't mean he would be so easily bluffed by a little girl.

"Oh… Who told you I was British? You wouldn't narrow-mindedly think that only Britain has pure-blood wizarding families, would you? From 12 Grimmauld Place, London, dear Headmaster Phineas."

The silver-haired loli replied absentmindedly, her eyes slowly scanning across the headmaster's office, wondering if she could find something handy that could help her capture the phoenix in front of her.

Anyway, Phineas, trapped in the portrait, couldn't verify which family she came from. After casually blocking him back, it would save a lot of trouble.

"Could it be a pure-blood wizarding family from abroad that has visited the Black family before? Silver hair… Aliena… seems to be a common name in Germany."

Sure enough, after hearing Aliena's reply, Phineas began to think seriously, stroking his chin.

In his opinion, knowing the noble Black family's manor…

Ignoring Phineas, Aliena tried to take a small step forward. Fawkes, the phoenix standing on the wooden table, fluttered its wings nervously, its golden beak aimed threateningly at Aliena, as if as long as she took another step forward, it would not hesitate to peck her immediately.

"Wow, so fierce."

The silver-haired loli stuck out her tongue, retreated sheepishly. It seemed that Newt Scamander's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" wasn't entirely accurate. At least this phoenix didn't quite match the adjective "gentle."

"Wait, you don't really want to eat the phoenix, do you? Give up, it's impossible. Not to mention whether you can successfully capture the phoenix. As a spirit of flames, the phoenix is not afraid of any flames and high temperatures. At the same time, it can summon flames in times of danger and then be reborn from the ashes. Since ancient times, I have never heard of an example of a phoenix being successfully preyed upon."

The speaker was an old witch with long, silver, curly hair, her tone particularly gentle, sounding like nuns from a London abbey, with pleasant endings to each sentence.

Dirilis Derwent, one of the few female headmasters of Hogwarts, served from 1741-1768. Before that, from 1722-1741, she was a healer at St. Mungo's Hospital. Because of her previous work experience, she had come into contact with and learned about many high-risk, high-magic magical creatures.

"Respected Headmaster Dirilis, in fact, I have already thought about how to cook it."

Aliena turned around, looked at the silver-haired old witch, and gave a sweet smile.

"As long as the phoenix's ignition method is not nuclear fusion, then just replace all the oxygen in its environment with inert gas, and then find a way to heat the local gas to cook it directly at high temperature."

"The only problem now is… how to catch this delicious phoenix—oh, no, it now has a new name [Rare Scottish Long-Tailed Turkey]."

Aliena looked around, and suddenly her eyes lit up.

"Got it!"

The silver-haired loli casually grabbed an old wizard hat from the shelf behind the table with a huge claw-shaped corner, carefully looked at the dark hole inside, and if she aimed in the right direction, she should be able to completely cover the phoenix's head in it.

At this moment, the old wizard hat suddenly wriggled in Aliena's hand, and a crack opened on the edge of the brim, from which came a panicked voice.

"Lady, what are you trying to do?! I am the Sorting Hat, imbued with the thoughts of the four founders of Hogwarts, full of wisdom, a thinking hat! Do you know what an impolite thing you are doing?!"

"Quiet! Of course I know what I'm doing, dear Sorting Hat."

Aliena vigorously rubbed the big hat in her hand, pinched the brim with both hands, aimed the dark hole of the hat at the golden beak of the phoenix Fawkes standing on the table, and眯着眼睛(I don't know the English translation for this)happily, "This way, it should avoid hurting this hat that is so important to Hogwarts, right? After all, if the Sorting Hat is broken, it will affect this year's sorting."

Aliena raised her head, her eyes met Fawkes' wary eyes, smiled slightly, opened the Sorting Hat and suddenly罩去(I don't know the English translation for this) forward—human wisdom lies in using tools to hunt!

"Don't worry, it will only hurt for a moment, it will be quick."

The Sorting Hat moved clumsily from side to side, struggling more and more fiercely, and let out fierce screams with Aliena's actions.

"Wait!!! Wait!!!"

"You wouldn't be using the wise hat as a hunting net, would you?!"

"Stop it! Are you a devil?!"

"Aaaaaah!!!"
